Horrible stoppage by this unknown referee!

    Or the ref could have let it go on and the kid could have got his head smacked to **** considering he was out on his feet. See also Chavez-Taylor first fight.

    Great stoppage. His eyes were looking in two different directions. And seriously. He didn't even beat the first 10 count with the ref asking him a 100 different questions

    Like I said in a previous post, I think the referee considered it for a minute and then decided he had taken enough.


    But the Chavez-Taylor fight is a bad example. That fight should have never been stopped.

    Taylor was on the way down after about round six. He was ****ed in the last round especially, the punch that floored him was a class act. He was a dead man walking after that, and if there were 2 seconds left or two minutes left it was the correct decision Steele made. He's a referee not a timekeeper. Taylor wasn't particularly far ahead in that fight (though some folk will [wrongly] tell you different) he was getting hammered. Correct decision, Steele.

    I thought it was an early stoppage but he was also given about 20 seconds after the first KD.

    and if he would have continue and died a week later ,you'll hear nothing but crickets and why the ref didn't do something.

    He was more than just buzzed...he had a halo of birdies orbitting his head.:lol:

    It's not like Mares was going to get of the canvas and turn into Willie Pepp or Pernell Whitaker...the punches that caught him when he was fresh surely would have found him while seeing double.

    The ref job is to protect the fighters and if he felt that Abner couldn't continue then its his duty to stop the fight. I know there was only a few seconds to go in the first round and who knows if Abner would of made it up but that first knock down follow by the other didn't look good at all. You can tell in Abner eyes that he was hurt pretty bad and I think the judge made the right call. Don't worry since Abner would come back stronger so this is just a minor set back.

    Abner was ****ed no matter what

    Desperatly hurt he tried to fight back rather than run, hold OR defend...

    The fight was over.
