Horrible thought re. David Haye

I really doubt it. James Toney is just about the last person David Haye wants to take a risk against when there is really no need or anything to gain from it. Why fight a guy thats an awkward style to face and very difficult to knock out? Then if/when you win everybody laughs it off because he's 40 years old. There is really no upside to fighting him even if he beats Couture.

I'm sure he'd be far happier facing Audley whos a easy win or Adamek who is going to get him a lot more credit.

 

Nah, Adamek would make more sense than Toney. Don't know how much Toney has left but could see him lasting the distance and frustrating Haye.

I agree it might well happen in the unlikely event Toney manages to find the hail mary punch inside the first minute against Couture. An easy win, big paycheck, and plenty of media coverage. He would get destroyed by any of the top heavyweight boxers. He's got no chance against Haye, either Kiltschko, Adamek, Valuev or Solis. I'd probably even back the likes of Holyfield or Fraudley at this point against Toney.

 

If Toney somehow pulls it out of his ass I think it could happen.

Thing is, Toney is getting his career ended on Saturday night.

 

Man, I had this exact same thought about Vitaly Kilt. Valuev out, Haye won't fight, Povetkin propbaly isn't any more interested in Vitaly than Wlad- where do you go?

To a James Tony that is suddenly a media star?

 

Rather him fight toney than fraudley or Holyfield. But does seem a pointless fight for haye, and he would stop toney in around the 9th imo.

 

That would be horrible, not sure that the WBA's ratings should be affected by how good you are at rolling about on the floor with another man, if they are then there's one or two on the Magnificent Seven thread who I expect to see fighting Haye soon.

 

If Toney wins, it becomes a mega fight.

 

Well, Toney is certainly raising his profile, typing his name into Google returns hundreds of recent news stories. If he beats Couture I don't see him hanging around in the UFC for long, he'll come back to boxing, his stock much enhanced, for a big money fight.

 

It won't be Toney. I get the feeling it will be Chagaev or Thompson.

I just hope he announces it soon.

He should fight Chagaev as he is the official challenger then fight a Klitchsko.

 

Haye wont fight Toney.Haye wants an easy night not a night of trying to work out the style of a guy like Toney.Its a fight Haye would look bad in.He will fight Audley,I think they are only stalling on giving a date cos of Aud`s bad shoulder.As soon as they know when he will be fit they will give a date.Haye has turned into a joke.
