Instead of John Duddy bash thread?

Nobody on this forum picked this fight. Billy graduated from college and had more time to train for this fight and made it pay off. Jack Loew had him prepared and said publicly that he though Duddy was taking him too lightly. The linked article says it should get him ranked in the top 15 if he wins? Will this happen for him? If so, at what weight class since 154 is his natural weight class?

Who would you like to see Lyell fight next to see where/if he ranks at the weight?

Well first and foremost props to Lyell. I'm sure he won some fans with those who hate John Duddy.

But let's not go overboard, he's at best a measuring stick for up and coming/limted fighters. I'd like to see them use this to maybe manuever a fight with JCC Jr.

Lyell should get the shot against JCC Jr first.

Loew is another Enzo Calzaghe, has a talented fighter with him but his own skill is nothing more than basic fitness techniques. He has no clue when it comes to tactics.

At this point, a poster that knows him, said he doesn't expect him to compete with the elites, so I don't mean to give the impression I expect that. He is a kid that buckled down and did what no one thought he could do. I just think he deserves credit for that instead of being an after thought to a Duddy bashing post.

That's what I meant honestly. Let Lyell get a shot at JCC Jr. Duddy isn't a bad option either.

I think people expecting a 19-7 fighter to suddenly "turn it on" this late in the game are expecting too much off Lyell.

Well it's a lot easier to bash Duddy who most people don't like. Not that it's fair of course (to Lyell or Duddy) but it's the way the wood works.

Breidis Prescott is still riding epic momentum from 30-some odd seconds against Amir

Who told KP to sneak a lead right up under McKart's left elbow; a punch that proved to be the beginning of the end?

Who told KP to go out on a put on a great show on HBO vs Zertuche?

Who told KP to just run right the **** over Miranda?

Who told KP "it's a basic ****ing fight with this kid, jab right hand, simple" in the first Taylor fight?

Who told KP to keep working behind the jab and go to the body in the 2nd Taylor fight?

Who trained Billy Lyell to pressure Duddy, and beat the **** out of him with his right hand?

You know the answer Fleaman, so just shut the **** up.

I guess you are close to the Pavlik group. He looked like **** against BHOP. But its OK to have a bad night. I hope he comes back better than ever, I like the guy. I think he is much better than what he showed that terrible night.

Stranger things have happened when guys start to focus on training full time. That said, Lyell just doesn't have the power or quickness to be more than a gatekeeper anyway.

Does this win help place him top 15 in the 154 pound division as the article indicated? Duddy was pretty highly ranked at 160. Does it at least earn him an opponent to help make that determination in his next fight?

If this fight was on Friday Night Fights, we would have sat through Teddy Atlas declaring Lyell an 'opponent' brought in to make Duddy look good. And Jack Loew is just here scouting Duddy for a possible Pavlik match up.

Actually I said a healthy Pavlik gives BHop hell at 170, so you should at least try to keep your facts straight. Your argument about KP's health on October 18th 2008 is not with me, it's with Thomas Hausser who reported the facts. If you honestly believe you know more about the situation than Hausser, let me know, so I can put you where your belong; on my ignore list.
