There are all sorts of generic misconceptions floating around, and this post is laced with them.

This style match clearly does NOT favor Pacquiao.

Yeah, Pacquiao likes his opponents right in front of him - standing still. Not pressing forward and constantly collapsing on him. And Pacquiao is the guy who's going to revert to old form when he gets hit, not Hatton. Hatton is Hatton regardless. Pacquiao is the wannabe cutie here, not Hatton.

I always thought it was stressed to always lead with the right hand to get inside of a southpaw and not Jab in.

Maybe it is the Hatton camp trying to get into Pacquiao's mind that they plan to try to outbox him and when the bell rings Hatton will bull rush like he always does.

Floyd Joy already said they are gonna try to pin Pac against the ropes, easier said then done. I see Ricky winning a couple of exchanges before Pac's ring smarts start to kick in and he works his angles.

Lead rights are the pefect punch against a southpaw, but it still has to be set up by a jab.

so we'll probably be seeing alot of jabs, double jabs and lead rights from Hatton

Thats the thing Hatton is a hooker! throws hooks, Unless Floyd really changed him to use his jab effectively, he will be trying to get inside trying to win heavy exchanges with Manny. The old Ricky use to throw a jab and brawl in with hooks. It's hard for me to see Ricky double and triple jabbing.

    Hey SR

What do you make of the Lazcano / Hatton fight when assessing the outcome of Pac / Hatton ?

I think if you can take Hatton's punishment and make it to the late rounds he's extremely vulnerable. Hatton will keep running in, but he's much softer and easier to time once he's been weakened by 11 rounds of perpetual attacking. Lazcano was rugged enough to weather the storm, so he was able to do serious damage when the opportunity presented itself. Pacquiao will want to make his move late, if he's still there.

Pacquiao and Lazcano have different styles consequently there is no comparison. In any case we don't know what Hatton is going to do. If Hatton tries to box Pacquiao, he will have to be better than Marquez or Barrera or Morales to beat him. That ain't gonna happen. To be realistic all Hatton can do to win is impose himself as a brawler in a more efficient way that effectively deals with Pacquiao's superior speed and agility. It could be that Mayweather has improved Hatton's style but quite frankly that is not what I saw in that match against Malignaggi. Pacquiao has to be favorite in this match.

I agree. There is no point saying there hasn't been some aknowledgement on hatton's behalf about his flaws as a face first kinda fighter. He's gonna look to be the counterpuncher in this one and surprise pacman with intelligent pressure side ways movment and keep a high guard on the way in. Something tells me floyds got the edge in surprise tactics and i think it will work for a while.

Pacman's gonna take a while to adjust to this style, i think he's prepared for an early on slaught. When that doesn't come in he way he expected it he'll look to instigate a war himself. When he figures it out he'll resort to fighting from distance and begin to pepper hatton with combos.

I think, just like u can't teach hatton to actually box i dont think you can teach pacman to be patient. So its gonna come down to stamina.

Whats to analyze?? Speed kills! and Hatton aint the type to not get killed by it.

Add the fact that Pacs footwork is superior, his power equal and his technique at par.

Thats kind of the point. Hatton has to acknowledge Manny will be faster fighter, and try and offset that speed a little. Hatton is quick, but not in a technically sound way. He can open up later in the fight with that stuff but he needs to a very sharp counterpuncher in the opening rounds.
