On most of my friends it seems to be pretty accurate but with me either im sherman klump or it doesnt work right with me. I don't think I could be 175 even if I starved myself

    TOTALLY inaccurate.
It does not take body fat into account.

if its for those who dont exercise the average weight for a male would range from 250-500 pounds these days. i think they just take into account all the small framed 130 pound mayweathers of the US

The BMI was never meant to judge obesity, so it is completely accurate.

The problem is simpletons using it when it clearly should not be used.

You mean it doesn't take into account muscle mass.

Most doctors with a brain will not use the BMI on somebody that does not have a typical build.

Your highschool doctor was probably just tired and looking forward to his paycheck.

The BMI is extremely accurate. It is an exact science - it precisely, 100%, calculates your weight per meter squared of height.

The problem with it however, is it purely measures body mass. It does not consider anomalies such as increased muscle mass. As a rule however, for the 'average joe' - it isn't a bad guide.
