How affected was Eubank by Steve Collins hypnosis?

    Haven't watched this one for some time and after the knockdown in round 10 Eubank made no real effort to close the show.

    Collins was also quite racist towards Eubank beforehand, throwing Eubank off any real gameplan.

    Never heard that racist thing before, but I do know that Eubank said that the spectre of Watson prevented him closing in. I think this may hold water. This was eerily like the Watson fight in terms of note - he's behind on the cards when he hurts his opponent badly and has him at his mercy. That's exactly what happened v Watson.

    Wasn't this fight also just a few weeks after the G-Man disaster?

    I can't remember any racist thing either, but good point about the fight being so close to the Benn G-man one, that explains the holding back after the knockdown.

    The racism is well documented and is what Eubank blames for the loss.

    I always thought Eubank was gunshy after hurting Watson and thats why he didnt finish Collins. Similar to what happened in the Thompson fight if I recall. Those fights were on the table for Eubank to take he just wouldnt pull the trigger.

    Yeah, Collins did - like others - undermine Eubank's blackness and call into question his authenticity. What i'm interested in is why did this undermine Eubank to the point where he couldn't fight properly, and where did he say this was the case?

    Eubank on Calzaghe. What a wonderful fighter Eubank was, lovely stuff. Looper, but great great stuff.
