Mark every video you post I have seen but I am glad someone updates the forum frequently with the best youtube has to offer. Modern Martial Artist, Rich The Fight Historian, Scrapbook Boxing, all top tier guys who make content just for people like us. Whats your favorite video of the Modern Martial Artist? I'd have to say mine is Holy v Bowe 1, he made such an awesome essay on that fight and why it shouldn't just be viewed as a brawl.

I appreciate that fight more and more. Might have been the last times we saw sustained flashes of peak Ali from the 60s.

Norton lost by 3 points on my score card, though it was a tough fight for sure. I could see it closer, but I can't see a draw or win for Norton there. No.

Definitely my favourite fight out of the Ali-Norton trilogy. This bout, the second Frazier one, second Quarry bout and the Foreman fight produced Muhammad's best form of the 1970s.

I’ve always thought the last glimpses of 60’s Ali were the Frazier & Norton rematches. Ali seemed to get his legs back fighting constantly in 1972. I grew up with older Ali. When I got into boxing, I’d watch the fights on ESPN’s Super Bouts. He just did an impression of himself after 1974. Just backpedaling. In the Norton rematch, he’s doing some of the in & out movement from the 60’s. After Foreman, that movement was gone.

Just on physical appearance, Ali came closest reaching back to the 60s version of himself in both the Norton and Frazier rematches - Ali weighed the same for both fights - pretty much bang on 212 lbs - dancing weight as Ali liked to call it.

Who wouldn’t want to put on their dancing shoes after painfully copping to the likes of Frazier and Norton the first time around - as Ali did.

I watched this fight a few months ago, when I was scoring Norton vs Ali Trilogy. I think I had it 7-5 to Ali, it was a very good fight. Arguably the best movement Ali showed in the 70s.

There were definitely signs of the young Ali in there against Kenny.
But then again, that's what Norton made you do if you were a boxer like Ali or Holmes.
He put that akward style pressure on you, where you just had to fight.
I loved Norton, he had weaknesses like all fighter but he proved he belongs with some of the best.

I also have it 7 - 5 for Ali,or at least 6-5-1 to Muhammad. One of the best non-title heavyweight fights of that decade.

Preach on, my friend. Ken was great. I love both Norton and Tyson, but I seem to never hear the end about Ken's "glass jaw". Gee, Norton was stopped by George Foreman and Earnie Shavers...Iron Mike got his clock punched by Holy and....uh, Buster Douglas. Compare the four that stopped each man.

    Agreed, bud.
I mean, Ken was in their with Foreman, a guy who had power only seen in an handful of heavyweight Champs.
Shavers got him out as he was ageing fast, and Cooney same thing.

Close and very hard fought fight. One of the Ali's best performances when it came to combine guts and skill and Norton was terrific as well. Very impressive that he could push such a good version of Ali so close.

I'm a bit befuddled that Ali could keep the third one as close as he did imo despite significant decline during those three years. Maybe Norton declined a bit as well. Looking at the trouble this version of Norton had one of the best 70's versions of Ali in, it would seem reasonable for him to stop 1976 Ali. But in fact, he perhaps actually hurt him less over all. That's quite weird, seeing how declined Ali was by 1976. Maybe it was due to tactical adjustments... Surprising, though.
