Lol, at or after the bell and slightly behind the head

What about the clear shove that Golota got credited a KD? Don’t ignore that.

I haven’t scored it in forever but I had Golota winning 4 of the first 6, then getting clean swept. He simply didn’t land any serious leather the last 6 rounds and it was very clear to me the harder and more quality shots were landed by Ruiz.

Yup. King wanted control and with Ruiz, he wanted a "Latino HW champion" to market, regardless of how utterly talentless he was. King's influence brought undeserved rankings for Ruiz, favorable treatment from refs for his illegal excessive holding tactics, and gift decisions, like in the Golota fight.

Again, remember - Ruiz was knocked down TWICE, outlanded as the punch stats document, and he got another point deduction. That he somehow got this decision is one of the worst ROBBERIES of this era, and I don't use that term often.

Ruiz is a fighter that got numerous gifts during his stay at Heavyweight.
Puzzling how the Holyfield trilogy turned out. I thought Ruiz beat Holyfield the first fight, but was ruled a draw.
Thought Holyfield won the second fight despite getting hurt late in the fight, but that fight was ruled for Ruiz.
The third fight was all Holyfield and that was ridiculously ruled a draw.
To show how insane the scoring for that 3rd fight was, when the scores were read and it was announced a draw, so shocked was Ruiz himself he was jumping up and down as if they announced him the winner.
Ruiz was so happy to take the draw. LOL!
The things Ruiz was allowed to get away with in the ring just paints a bad picture by even boxing standards.

One of the craziest HW fighters of all time was ole A. Golota. The guy was a banger and always seemed to be clouded in controversy when inside the ring. He was a true warrior and you knew you were in for a treat when he fought.
I recall being a fan back to his fights on USA network
Always felt he beat J Ruize and had him by a round for Chris (who had a HOT wife btw) that night.
Once Marcos Maidana come along I recall thinking he was a smaller version of A. Golota because he was always bringing the action and would take 2 punches to give one.
Thanks for posting as this was a good flashbacks to when the HW guys were active and did not avoid opposition

The one was legit but the other was garbage. The one that was behind his head and after the bell didn’t count either but he should have lost a point for it.

I felt the ref was giving Golota all the breaks.

    Golota won both fights.

    Boxrec fans scorecards
    Golota 116- 112 Byrd
    Golota 115- 110 Ruiz

Unbelievable how he never became a world champion when he whooped Bowe twice, Byrd and Ruiz. He didn't get any luck, alongside making his own bad luck in the Bowe fights.

Golota had fluffed it a few times by then & was seen as a bit of sideshow .. so he was always going to be on the wrong side of some close decisions after that.. he was ageing & used goods.. therefore if a fight was remotely close he was probably gunna get shafted

He wasn't. Both of these could have gone either way and went to the respective title holders.

What's with the obession with Golota on here he was a pretty good contender but people on here act like he was going to become a polish Larry Holmes or something?! Even if he became champ I dont think he would've lasted long at all. And why does he get so much praise for beating up and then fouling repeatedly a washed Bowe

On the forums at least Golota has to be the fighter with the most excuses made for him outside of Tyson.

Oh man! I'm Polish and he's legendary over here, lol. You would think he was a champion reigning for 10 years with 30 title defences.

People get really delusional about fighters that they think represent them
