I think he can still fight as wild and as intense as the late 1990's version of himself. Freddie Roach just doesnt allow him to. Freddie stops him as much as he can.

I remember Roach saying in an interview that a few people (older Pacquiao watchers) may criticise him for taking away Manny's old, hyper intense style, but he said he felt that even with Manny's wildness getting dialled down, it has made him a better overall fighter, and less prone to blindside counters. Maybe becoming a slightly "less exciting" brawler to some, but he doesnt care about the criticisms.

No it just common sense. Either this is the best version of pac or it isn't. If it is the best version of pac and us boxing fans get the biggest fight in history. Then if pac loses to mayweather, we must maintain that this was the best version of pac ever. However if mayweather was to lose to pac, could we honestly say that is the best version of mayweather throughout his illustrious career. I couldn't. Do you now see the problem this thread is creating?

Boxing fans regard pac as a beast at JRWW? He had one fight there and knocked out ricky hatton.

No. Only someone obsessed with individual boxer's achievements and public perceptions and with a desire to see their hero get praise (or as little criticism as possible) would view things in such a way.

I imagine most boxing fans just want to see how the fight goes, how their styles blend, what problems they are able to present to each other, how they cope/adapt with them etc.

It's about seeing how a fight between two top fighters goes - not about ensuring fighters get lavished with praise if the win.

    No, "boxing fans" do.
You don't follow well, do you?

Kidding aside, I'm pretty confident that he'll demolish the competition in JrWW as well.
There are some styles that would give him problems there, but overall, I say he's a force to reckon with at 140.
Such a pity Roach won't let him prove it.

Sure, until after the fight when their favourite boxer loses, and we are overwhelmed by tons of theories why their favourite fighter lost the fight. Weight, Style, Dehydrated, Gloves, Politics, Divorce, Socks e.t.c

This is why i respect people on this forum who make their opinions clear from the very beginning and don't try to discredit wins of a fighter after they lost.

If we say pac is the best shape of his life then so be it, but I couldn't say the same for mayweather. There is a reason he is only fighting once a year and that is not to protect his zero.

    Hatton, Cotto, Clottey were leftovers
    Margo was leftovers and drained
    Shane is leftovers

    Oh I see.

    You said

And if that's your description of a "boxing fan" , then no I'm not one. (please do note the quotes. they say a lot)
Only idiots and genuine nuthuggers would think that way.

Why do you really give any creedence to what most of the ****wits on here say? It's mostly a bunch of teenage fanboys sticking up for their guy.

I don't think the people you are referring to are actually boxing fans. If you are, then I'm not a boxing fan

The Pac now is scary, The guy has dynamite in both of his hands. This guy now has the ability to take a punch and land his own at the same time, Add to that his experience.
