To respond directly to the OP.

British boxers are viewed on their individual merits just like any other boxers are.

However, nationalistic pride interferes with this extremely often. For example, many individuals from proud boxing nations may belittle the British boxers. And many British boxing fans will over-exaggerate the greatness of their fighters.

It's the same story wherever you go.

I don't know what this **** is all about? The UK has more up and coming talent right now all the way through the amatuers to pro ranks than America and Mexico have.... that's a simple fact. The Olympics last year proves my point.... not to mention guys like Cleverly, Brook, Moore and Maclklin who should be WINNING world titles in the next 10 months or so.... the US or most latin American countries don't have that amount of talent right now. Just being honest, and I don't root for fighters just because they might be from a certain part of the world either.... I like fighters for what they are.... fighters.

The Lewis v Briggs fight is a prime example of Lewis's chin.

His knockdown against McCall would have knocked out most heavyweights. But he was counted out in like 3 seconds by the ref even tho he was the champion. I think that's why he only boxed once in the UK again after that. And Rahman? That shot from Rahman would have knocked out anyone. He ALWAYS got back up. The ref stopped the fights. So you can't say he had no heart.

I dont think Haye or Khan are the future torch bearers of British boxing even if Amir has wona world title and Haye soon will do... Brook is looking good as is Cleverley. Also the Olympians BJ and Gavin have plenty of class about them.

I dont think fighters are determined from what country they come from...except maybe Germany.:D

In America, we don't even know you guys exist most of the time. For the longest time I had no idea who the Klit brothers or David Haye. I'm going to be honest, you guys aren't really recognized down here and I do believe that we are on a level ahead when it comes to boxing

Out of the 68 major belts (WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO) at 17 weight classes. Americans only own 8 of them. So I think it's good to keep an interest on whats happening outside of the USA.

Not a fan of many of our fighters, but Calzaghe was one of boxings genuine elites. I will admit his 'greatness' and legacy is way overrated, but he was one of the top 2 or 3 in the world when he retired.

Our truly great fighters are few and far between, but we have a lot of good fighters and are producng a lot of talent at the moment.

And pointless generalisations are pathetic and pointless.

Not to mention we have/had the last genuine HW champion and one of the very greatest of all time at that in Lewis.
