Clottey threw 44 punches in the 11th round. Its hard to stay active when the guy you are facing is blatantly running away from you.

As for his stamina issues. How exactly does that make him a gatekeeper? I scored his fight with Margarito a draw, and that was mostly because of an injury in the fight. a fight he was winning before that point.

Against Cotto, he won the fight, looked better, and only because a big matchup between Cotto and Pacquiao was on the horizon was he robbed. And its not like Clottey wasnt outboxing Cotto before the head butt.

Gatekeeper means guys who are good opposition and could provide an upset here and there. Clottey should be a lve dog and possibly a favorite depending on who he's facing every time he steps in the ring. I'd favor him over 2 out of the 4 welteweight champs. Berto and the other guy. I'd pcik the fight even if he fought Mosley. We know how Mosley struggles against big boxers dont we?

he's the kind of guy that has endless potential, athletic, tough, and hits like a mule kick. i feel as if he can go somewhere with goosen as his trainer, he shaped chico into a world class fighter. miranda has the potential to be even bettern than chico IMO.

Miranda is a guy who talk alot, but now he needs a big win to back it up because he can quickly get irrelevant when smw has become so strong. It's not a weak division anymore, but maybe he could go after someone... ups he's already got a fight with stieglitz, well he gotta win that one, I see it as his last and best chance to get back on the big stage, as stieglitz is the weakest champ.

He's not so bad as people make him to be but he ain't more than good either.

In recent times his boxing skills are underrated,he uses his jab decently but also he has fallen in love with his power to much to make his skills count.

He's still just 28 so he will be in the picture for a while more.

    1. That would be Pavlik, so far so good
    2. This I don't get, who do you mean? :-(
    3. That would be Abraham, agree with you again :)

Explanation what I mean with Nr. 2 - nobody knows what Ward is now, for the "normal" WBA Champion is now Sartison according to WBA anyway, and how Ward is supposed to be WBA "Super Champion" holding no other belt by beating Kessler who too held no other belt then WBA, that is the mistery to me... And not ONLY to me I bet...

On the other side, when Miranda fought Pavlik, he was NOT the MW Champion, and when Miranda fought Ward he was NOT the (whatever) Champion, only when he fought Abraham (both times) Abraham WAS the MW Champion, so for half of his losses you award him the "excuse" of losing to champions although they became Champions a lot later...

What I mean with this is, if you beat someone at the beginning of his career and later on he becomes a Champion, does this mean you were that good or he was that bad so early? Or when you lose to someone who later becomes a Champion, was he already that good or you were that bad then?

He has a good chin with good power, but in terms of boxing ability and ring intelligence, he's below average.

Hes a tough outing for most anyone, and hes a very good fighter himself, his fans are waiting to see if he can improve.....

I think people who think Miranda is a bad fighter dont really know what bad fighters are. Miranda isnt 'very good', sure.... but he sure as hell aint bad, and hes also above average.

You want to see bad fighter, look at chavez jrs opponents, then you have guys like chavez jr who are a step above that, and bordering average.... Miranda is levels above that, but also not quite near the top eather. Hes a decent fighter.... nothing wrong with that. I hope he can improve. Everything he needs to change he can work on, and actually take it to the next level.

the guy definately has power, if he learned more about the defensive part then he could do well. he is a really raw fighter who needs to sharpen up his skills. with taylors chin i would back miranda to catch him, and knock him out.

also the guy is willing to fight anybody, he fought abraham in germany x2. offered kessler a fight when people thought kessler was something great, kessler ducked him. if he gets his career back on track then he is a good fighter, but he needs a big win soon.

Its not that he's "bad" that makes him so comical as a fighter but of how much he was hypped as the next best thing.

I remember Hopkins saying hes going to pass his middleweight torch to Miranda after the Gibb fight.

I hate to say this, because I am (or was) a HUGE Miranda fan. I bought into the whole story, the Colombian tough upbringing, etc. I really wanted him to succeed and be a top-tier guy. I rooted like crazy for him against Abraham.

That said, his skills suck. Yes, he's a hard guy and he has big power, but his chin's starting to go and his lack of refinement has become more and more glaring.

The guy has an overhand right. That's about it. He got throttled in the Abraham rematch, beat down by Pavlik and looked pathetic against Ward. It was embarrassing watching him chase Ward around the ring with a loaded up right hand.

He's in the kind of Mayorga/Chavez Jr mold: Tough guy, a lot of will but simply not enough skill or refinement. He's a novelty who is losing his charm and resiliency. He was never that good, but he made up for it with heart and power.
