Clottey and Miranda are a step above Corley and by a considerable margin. Corley loses to bums, Clottey and Miranda don't.
like a jerry quarry...guy lost to ken norton, joe frazier, muhammad ali, but if youre gonna lose, lose to the best....
[DM][/DM] Miranda is the 21st century version of Iran Barkley................. Not terrible, yet, hardly great....... :admin In 2010, "Thomas" Edison Miranda is WASHING up...:scaredas: SR.BILLARDO!!:bbb
Hell no he is not bad. He actually won more rounds against Ward than Kessler did. From what I saw, he also landed many more big shots on Ward. Against Abraham, he simply got caught. However, he nearly stole a victory from Abraham in Germany. He lost to some, not good, but great fighters. He also deserves credit for beating two very credible contenders in Allan Green and Howard Eastman. On top of that he managed to knock out his last opponent in the 1st round. Miranda is a force to be reckoned with and may very well be holding the WBO belt soon.
Miranda is powerpuncher, a B+ level fighter. He will never be elite, but then there is nothing wrong with that. He is always dangerous and there is no shame in losing to world class elite level opponents
I think of a gatekeeper as being more of a journeyman that prospects MUST beat if they are to continue on to the elite level.
well that was supposed to be miranda's big night. beating kelly on jermain's undercard was supposed to really hype up the big miranda/taylor showdown. and that version of jermain taylor would have worked over miranda w/ how wild miranda was swinging.
No doubt he has disappointed his fans when he stepped up to the the top. But let's put thing in persepctive. He losses came to three great fighters who's combined records are 86-1. And that one loss came at the hands of Bernard Hopkins. So NOBODY has yet to beat any of these fighters Miranda has lost to other then one of the all time greats. Miranda had, if you will bad luck. He fought three elite fighters before they were known by most people. He gave all three their toughest fights yet, other than Pavlik which was still a war. Let's see what happens Jan 9th against Stieglitz with Goossen in his corner. He needs to win that. Then we can put him back in the mix with the top dogs.
He's unrefined and raw, but he is a beast who just gets beat by better fighters. No shame in that. He's a notch below. But he has the power to turn around any fight and therefore is always a dangerous opponent. He can be enjoyable to watch though, because he throws plenty of bombs and some of his KO's are spectacular. But otherwise, not so much.
:thumbsup I'm happy for the guy. He got himself out of total poverty and misery and has made a name and good $$$ for himself. Good for him. Even though I know his limits, I will always be happy and root for the guy. How can't you?
