How bad is it for boxing when 2 boxing legends produce a stinker, a dreadful, foulfest "fight"? :tong :tong :tong This content is protected
Both are in their 40s. Both even in their primes were counterpunchers by nature. What idiot expected anything good to begin with? Have some common sense people.
these fighters are trying to cash out. They know boxing is going downhill and nobody will pay the ridiculous amount to watch these guys. Whoever bought this **** deserves the buyer's remorse.
It will look bad for boxing promoters, for boxing commissions who allowed this fight to happen. Boxing fans who bought this sh!t looked bad (except die hard B-Hop and RJJ fans).
Two guys in their forties slugging it out. Anyone who bought this fight should not complain that what they did is not a quality fight.
:rofl they're a bad style match-up lol. they should have not asked for this rematch fight after 17 years. :rofl
They weren't that exciting when they fought in '93. Both men are into their 40's and anyone with a clue about boxing knew this one wasn't going to be anything exciting or grand, it is exactly what we thought it would be a dirty battle between two old geezers that really don't like each other. So in short: If you feel you got ass ****ed out of $50, then shame on you for ordering it.
I think it's ok, casual fans who accidently saw the fight probably saw Hopkins rolling around on the floor fake crying and assumed they were watching WWE.
I was always against this matchup as it has come about way too late in both men's career to have any meaning. I can understand Hopkins' motivation for revenge but I could not see what Roy had to gain, other then one last pay day. I concur with the above in that their style matchup was not conducive to creating an exciting matchup; it was always going to be a highly technical contest, like their first bout. From a financial perspective perhaps it is good for old fighters to continue making money by facing off against each other. I do however worry that some people may see more into it and actually see these matchups as somehow affecting the legacies of the fighters involved. It was certainly not pay per view material but then again perhaps it is fairer if it is; market forces will dictate how much of these kind of matches the public want to see. As for the match itself, it is regrettable that it was, by all accounts, dull and foul-filled but it should be taken for what it is. It does not tarnish boxing in any way as the sport has plenty of excitement elsewhere.
not too bad when both of them legends are way past their prime. to be honest, did anyone really takes this fight that serious other than you considering roy jones got knocked out in one round in his other previous fight? i know i don't give a **** about this fight.
