How Bad is Quitting a Fight? Duran, Vitali, Ortiz all did it

Duran and Vitali can be forgiven being that it was a one time thing and they have had success afterwards and are ATG's.

Ortiz is a multiple time quitter and has the mentality of a soft little boy. he has not redeemed himself and has set himself back even more.

 

I'l stick to Duran on this one.Pretty much what ATg says because if anyone's done enough to be forgiven an abberation,it's Cholo.
If ever someone quit NOT because they were scared,it's Duran.

Depends on the type of quit. Duran quit because he was embarrassed/frustrated with what Leonard was doing. That's a poor reason. But seeing as though he's a badass and he didn't do it because he was scared, I'm not gonna' give him **** for it. In fact, I'm not gonna give **** to anyone. Not even Ortiz for the Maidana one.

Alexander against Bradley was embarrassing though.

 

I can forgive Morales. He fought until he finally realized he didn't have it anymore, he knew he had nothing left. Alexis did the same thing.

I can't forgiven Duran. He didn't quit because he wanted to pass the torch, he didn't quit because of an injury, he quit because he was frustrated.

 

if you're going to **** on Alexander for quitting against Maidana, you better do the same for Ortiz. at least Bradley was a top fighter in comparison to Maidana who was an unknown fighter from Argentina who was basically supposed to be used as a stepping stone for a prospect to win a paper title.

on top of that Alexander straight up clowned him, the same guy that Ortiz quit against.

 

Duran is the worst,because he was not even hurt.. He quit in a title fight,All Time greats should be better than that...He gets a pass because it was before the media,internet age.. Any boxer that quit in the manner he did,would be crucified,but we give excuses to guy all day,it is a huge double standard..

In the internet age that would be a trending topic had Pac or Floyd quit like that.. We sweep that under the rug because he had a long career,and nostalgic boxers always get a pass...

 

In what world is Vitali an ATG :blood

 

If the quittage occurs at a point where the fight is no longer winnable, you can't knock a guy for checkin out.

If he still has any chance at all, let the criticism fly.

Duran didnt get a pass he was crucified by the media of the day and even his countrymen who once revered him as a god like figure turned their back on him, it was with the passage of time and some great performances he had later in his career where he was an underdog that people start forgiving him for the "No Mas" thing, saying he got a pass for it just shows your ignorance but i'm not surprised you thought his second fight with SRL was for the WBC super MW title.

 

To be honest... the only people qualified to have a dig at any professional fighter for quitting is a professional fighter that has never quit.

As for the thread title, every situation is different... you can`t put every fighter that ever quit in the same bracket.

Ortiz is a multiple quitter who will quit again in the future. Why even compare a Glass Jawed hype job like Ortiz to Duran and Vitali? :huh
