Most people should remember he did it under threat of death from the Mob if he didn't.
Sonny Liston is one of the toughest guys ever to enter professional boxing. He made bad decisions but it doesn't take a genius to work out that a bullet to the head leaves you with less options than throwing a fight.

well people say James Toney is an ATG and he is a two time convicted Steroid Cheat. Jones is also a convicted steroid cheat. Because they made bad excuses about getting caught it is OK with you? :huh

what fights were toney convicted of? fights # 68 and #69 of a pro career lasting 20 years where only his first half counts and is hall of fame worthy by itself...

I agree he is a HOFer never said otherwise. But ATG? Nope. And certainly not with the steroid tests not once but twice.......

I am trying to get some clarification on this because seems it is OK for others to use steroids and not true for others.....:huh

That is what I don't get. Why have the double standard on here? Why?

lol except thats not a full dislocation. An you can tell it happened to him before, it rolled back in on its own.. There is different severities. Mine has dislocated 6 times. The first time your shoulder dislocates your going to the hospital.

thats why i stay out of these arguments about steroids....99% of the posters on here are idiots. they will take away a guys entire career of 15 years if there was some failed test in the last year of his career.
while others who fail tests say the tests were contaminated or false positive and they just ignore that little failed test like it didnt happen.

That's only your opinion.Mine's is different but I don't profess it to be a bombproof fact. You honestly believe that Liston fought the first fight entirely of his own accord without any input from his handlers? Not saying he chose to lose or could've won if he wanted, but I believe he was acting on orders both times.

Depends. Vitali had major injury. So understood. Ortiz was getting smacked around a little but was ok and quit, not a fan but ok, but then the Lopez fight with jaw injury, i am ok with that because HIS ****ING JAW WAS HANGING OUT OF HIS MOUTH. but am against Maidana one. Duran was getting schooled but WTF happened to never give up. Was a little disappointed

    That's some bull**** right there.

Fighters SHOULD be held to higher standards then us in regards to these situations because they are PROFESSIONAL boxers getting PAID money to fight.

If you are getting paid money to fight, your pain tolerance SHOULD be higher, you SHOULD stick it out more.

If any of you guys think only Vitali-Victor were in that kind of pain and no other boxers were, stop being delusional.

There is a very high chance that guys like Gatti,Ali,Oscar,Holyfield,Holmes, etc all felt an equal amount of pain that Vitali did during his Byrd fight. Yet they didn't quit.

So to say 'oh it's ok to quit as a fighter because of pain' is simply outrageous. Since 99% of fighters feel a very high level of pain and suffering throughout the fights.

For fights where people with familys are getting badly damaged and cant take no more and quit ( Lopez-Ortiz) I understand. Have this loudmouth forum warrior pieces of **** try it. 99.99% would be on the floor crying and bitching.
