Did it happen when you were undefeated, HW star, fighting in front of thousands of your home fans, had million of dollars lined up, and a potential fight against the reigning Champion Lennox Lewis?

If your injury did not happen under those circumstances, you can cry all you want.

Was mistaken Benitez took his middle weight titles, but Duran did give away his Welterweight title,so it was a title fight... And yes he gets a pass today,so still made my point..

You seriously need to shut up. Nobody is agreeing with you and everyone knows your being a troll. I thought klitschko fanboys are the worst but I think someone who attacks the klitschkos for losses by injury in which everyone knows they would have won otherwise is ridiculous. Especially injuries that cause severe pain.

    It's just a sport....

    :lol::lol:.
That's why every poll that was ever made on ESB in regards to quitters end up having more people bashing the quitters then supporting them right?

FIrst off, you don't know jack **** about how much pain Vitali was in. You don't.

Now was Gatti ever in as much pain? I honestly believe so. Was guys like Holyfield in as much pain? Was Oscar in as much pain? What about Chavez SR or Nigel Benn? Who knows. But to say that Vitali was the only one to have felt this much pain and that's why he gets a pass for quitting is bull****.

Also if you think that fighters SHOULD NOT BE held in higher regards as compare to non-fighters, you are out of your mind.

If you are getting paid MONEy to do something, you should sacifice more then someone paying money to WATCH YOU do that something.

Using examples like 'oh WOULD YOU HAVE QUIT if you had a broken jaw' is stupid,

Of course I would 'quit' if someone smash my jaw open in the middle of the street. Why the **** shouldn't I?

But if a big Canelo fight was coming up, that is an entirely different situation. You can not use every day situations and examples and then excuse the fighters for quitting on the big stage just because a 'normal human being' would have quit. These fighters are professional athletes, they are in boxing, boxing hurts.

  6. quitting in the middle of a fight is never good. however, quitting simply because youre getting beat up like ortiz did against maidana is inexcusable. he was a young man who had received little punishment in his career. duran quit because he was frustrated. vitali quit because he was injured. erik morales quit after a lifetime of punishment and he did so against an atg. cotto quit after 11 hard rounds against a man whose gloves were in all likelihood loaded. one can arguably excuse those fighters, but not ortiz.

Forget those guys. Sugar Ray Robinson once quit in round 14. At steak was the light heavyweight title.

Considered the ultimate sin that a boxer can commit, pisses me off though that the vast majority of posters who label boxers "quitters" could never comprehend the pain that boxers go through. 99.9% of those ****ers would have quit if they had the broken jaw that Ortiz suffered...

Pain is temporary - quitting lasts forever.

No one who has never actually boxed has any right to even post on this thread.

A boxing match can be one of the toughest, brutally painful (heart, lungs, arms, not just from getting hit) experiences you can imagine.

Sometimes the body simply can't go on, no matter what you mind & heart want, and no matter how tough you are.

Quitting is a bad thing because one can too easily then adopt a "quitter's mentality" in future fights, but sometimes you simply have no choice. You might as well ask,
"How Bad is hitting the canvas after being hit by a Tyson left hook?"

Robinson didn't quit. He was suffering from heat exhaustion on the hottest day in New York history at the time. The guy basically had to be carried back to his corner in a fight that he was clearly winning. It was impossible for him to continue, because he couldn't walk on his own.

All boxers deserve a huge amount of credit for stepping into the ring.

It takes courage and balls to fight.

Is it wrong to not wanting to go out on your shield? After taking so much punishment and exausted to decide you dont want to carry on?

I dont think theres anything wrong.

All boxers are fighters, they are not cowards so it says it alot if someone decides not to carry on.

    your argument is bull****.
some guys can take a beating and simply be too tough for their on good. ortiz could have just as easily stayed down and not gotten up or done the traditional half ass act of getting up slowly and when the ref asks if youre ok dont say anything, and when the ref stops the fight you all the sudden come to life and act like your mad or ready to go now... ortiz and cotto took massive beatings and were too tough for their own good. had they had weak chins they would have been kod. because of their toughness they take shot after shot and bleeding out of every hole in their face , cant go on.
a quitter is Rahman or Camacho Jr or Leija and even Chavez jr who received little tiny baby cuts early in a fight and quit because it seems to be ok when a dr asks "can you see?" no i cant (when they can) then a "dr "stops the fight even though they simply QUIT

Marcel cerdans people stopped the fight against Lamotta in the 10th ecause he had a seperated shoulder. Sometimes you just gotta call it a day. He had 114 fights before that never being stopped. When you can't move your arm or your Jaw is broken badly enough you can get seriously hurt because you can't defend against things. There is a difference between fighting through cuts and blood Like arturo Gatti, broken bones and injury are another story.
