I said contender fight each other less often. And who has Cunningham or Fury beaten to actually become a contender?

Fury beat a former world title challenger in a very good way. Also he beat Chisora. And some journeyman.
Cunningham is a good fighter and beat Adamek (I dont count Robberies.) He will be a hard test for Fury.

Off the top of my head there's these guys:

    USA
    Malik Scott
    Deontay Wilder
    Bryant Jennings
    Seth Mitchell
    Jonathan Banks
    Brett Rather
    Andy Ruiz
    Steve Cunningham
    Tomasz Adamek
    Amir Mansour
    Tony Thompson
    Chris Arreola

    UK
    David Price
    Tyson Fury
    Audley Harrison
    Derek Chisora
    David Haye

    World
    Alexander Povetkin
    Marco Huck
    Kubrat Pulev
    Ruslan Chagaev
    Denis Boytsov
    Robert Helenius
    Magomed Abdusalamov

    And the Klitschkos of course.

The problem is that the fights don't get made that often. When they do, it's usually good. There's a TON of talent in the division. Just because not many of them would have a chance vs the champs doesn't mean it's a poor division. Once the K bros retire that division will explode with action while these guys all fight for rankings and a chance to become the next champ. It's just the K's are too damn big, good, and interested in fighting bull**** fights. And on top of that, the only fights anyone wants are Klitschko fights. **** moving up the rankings by fighting contenders, they all want a shot at the K bros now. It's stupid.

its pretty crappy, but back to the old... no one is fighting enough! It's true, every 3 months fight and the cream would soon rise. If there is any...

    Its the worst.

Its not just the Champions . Vtali could hang in most era's , but the depth of talent is so poor.

Wlad would last this long in the 80's.

If Wilder becomes champ, then the same people who bash the HW division now would say the division is great! :yep

It seems you have an obsessed fascination with old threads of mine.

But to answer your post, no, people wont wont say it great IF Wilder wins a title. Wilder doesnt encompass the whole division. If fighters start fighting each other that help improve it. Overall skills may improve. Maybe some heavyweights learn the art of body punching again. These are the things that will improve the heavyweight division, not one fighter.

The heavyweight division has almost always sucked. Slow lumbering giants with little skills. It was probably most exciting in the 90's when some of the top guys were fighting each other and they were much more athletic and skilled in the top 10. However make no mistake the K bros would have demolished most of those guys as well.

This era needs more top 10 guys fighting each other and it would be good again. If the top 10 can get in shape it would be even better. Otherwise it's just the Wlad jabbing fat bums for 12 rounds.

Its weak because you've had 2 guys COMPLETELY dominate for the last decade, who couldnt fight each other.

They were MILEs ahead of the competition.

Now, there one guy whose miles ahead.

It cant be a strong division when the #2 guy in the world is considered to haver no chance with the #1 guy.

Fighting all these nonsense fights against the likes of Leapai, Mormeck,Pianeta, and Wach diesnt help either.

    Great eras have great fights.
What great fights have we seen since the retirement of Lewis?
