How bad was Hattons chin?

    After getting to the top the hard way (cab drivers and a couple shot to **** ATGs), Hatton found himself facing the pinnacle of the sport. He first fought Mayweather, a man who hadn't had a clean KO in about 6 fights. As we all know, Hatton was embarassingly KO'd. Chalk it up to Mayweathers skill level, right?

    Hattons next big fight was against Pacquiao. Pacquiao hadn't KO'd an opponent within 2 rounds in SIX years. You could blame the early KO on Hattons abysmal boxing skills and game plan of blocking punches with his face, but the reality is an iron chinned boxer wouldn't have folded like a cheap tent in 2 rounds.

    Hatton was a good B level fighter, but once he steps up to elite level he has no chin. Not surprising though.

    On a scale of Iron (10) to Glass (1), I rate Hatton at 3. He is like a lamp teetering on the edge of a table; a little tap in the right spot and it's shattered glass all over the floor.

    Gaining a lot of weight and then losing it can effect ones chin, especially if you're gaining and losing muscle

    His chin was sound enough, he walked through the best Tszyu could muster up.

    Oh and Tszyu is one of my all time favourite fighters. Prime Tszyu would win IMO but Hatton was a very good fighter and underrated today.

    That chin got exposes well before the Pac and may fights.

    Light hitter Collazo got wobbled and then robbed against Ricky. Ricky was utter **** as soon as he left England and couldnt cheat anymore.

    Alot of boxers once they get K.Od their punch resistance is lost....

    I think Hatton never really had a granite chin and just thought he could just keep coming forward, without consideration for any defense......BIG ERROR......he got away with it against Tszyu...Collazo nearly got him but Mayweather punished him and Pacquiao finished him off!

    His chin was probably a 7/8 when he started his career but gradually decreased....

    Tszyu stopped 13 of his previous 15 opponents before facing Hatton, (one of which he also managed to educate in the perils of playing with matches).

    I'd say Hatton's chin was better than a 3 if you look at his entire career. If you only look at him facing the top two p4p, than it looks less than stellar.

    Well he went down 6 times in 45 fights. Where he fought Thaxton, MaGee, Phillips, Tyszu, Maussa, Collaza, Castill, Urango, Malinagi, Mayweather, Pacquiao and Lazcano so it's safe to say it was pretty decent. Not ODLH, Mosely Pacquiao type iron but very respectable. Better than Ortiz imo.

    walked through anything Tszyu could muster, definately solid. Bad lifestyle choices eventually caught up with him.

    Three might be a tad low, I would say he's a 5, perhaps a 6. If his chin was that near the glass level, even an aging Tszyu would have starched him.

    3 people managed to KD in the pro ranks. Hatton fought like 10 world champs. Against Mayweather the KO was more from an accumilation of taking flush shots. Nothing glass about the Hitmans chin.

    Europeon level yes.

    Chin talk is bs anyway...

    Infact if you get KO'd by good shot medically that would be the 'better' chin... since its protection mechanism.
