Crawford has a likeable personality, rarely trash talks, is willing to fight the best, and isn't an overly defensive fighter. What's not to like about Bud?

One loss doesn't expose a 38 year old fighter........

    Plus

They already hate him because 42 different opponents have yet to expose him.

It wouldn't be a huge dent in his legacy but it would certainly raise questions. Surely he'll be a big favorite and a loss to such an underdog wouldn't be a good look.

I don't get the hate. He's a good interview, speaks his mind without the trash talk. Has been living in Omaha with his mate and children. The town loves him.
No flash, no scandals, no strip joint antics.

Dude is an All American lad.

I agree. I find Crawford very likable. To be honest, I like that we have champions such as Usyk, Crawford and Inoue who are all nice guys. It's refreshing. These are the guys that I like to root for. I know some people love the trash talkers, and don't get me wrong, boxing would be a lot less entertaining without them, but I naturally root against them. I respect Ali immensely for what he did, but I just know if I'd been alive back then, I'd have been tuning in to watch him lose. He'd have wound me up something silly.

He cherrypicked his way through life, plus weight bullied plus he never fought anybody like Janibek whose name started with a J and ended in K.

You said it. Inoue, Crawford and Usyk are not only the three best fighters in the game, they didn't need antics to sell themselves. Fighters like Ali, Tyson, Toney ect. were naturally charismatic so they could pull it off. But some of these other guys who imitated them came across as just annoying and inorganic. Especially the weirdos nowadays.

Can't help but feel that you had Ryan Garcia and Teofimo Lopez in mind when you said about weirdos. Awful individuals.

Double knockout would be ideal in that matchup. Although Teofimo would most probably outclass him easily.

Losing to Janibek at 38/39 in his 6th weight class wouldn't affect his standing that much in my view or in most hardcore fans' views I'd think, but for the casuals it would be much more of a knock against him.
Assuming he retired right after that loss, peoples last memory of him would be him losing to a an unknown guy ruling over a graveyard division. He'd be looked at as more of a Roy Jones figure a Mayweather. A cautionary tale instead of an example of a perfect career.
