The Ali that fought Foreman was 32 and past his prime. He did not have the legs of his prime since 67. The big question was could an "old" Ali survive the young champion ... After the first round Ali knew he would get tired againt Foreman since he did not have the stamina of his prime and that he had to change strategy.

A prime Holmes would not have the same handicap ... he'd dice Foreman up.

Foreman-Ali is the most misunderstood fight in the history of boxing imo. The reality is that Ali was forced to go to the ropes, he didn't have a choice in the matter.
