I've seen the full fight with a stop watch on the screen, the extra time was 6 seconds.Six extra seconds for Danny Holland to work on Cooper's cut eye.

Probably nearly as badly hurt as he was in the 11th round against Frazier in FOTC.

I was looking so hard for the Muhammad Ali interview with Harry Carpenter where they were discussing Manila and Ali told Carpenter there was no way I was going to allow Joe to say I quit and that he kept telling himself, "I'm the champion of the world and nobody is going to take my title". And yes I'm aware of what Wali Muhammad and Tom Hauser said but they're not infallible. Angie also said it never happened. Also, Joe was getting smelling salts after more than one round in Manila. You can clearly see it.

The reason smelling salts are outlawed is not to protect the opponent but to protect the boxer from himself. When you need smelling salts you are practically unconscious and shouldn't be engaged in combat sports

The video clearly shows him starting to face the wrong way and Dundee pull him back.

Dundee has admitted to tearing the glove to buy time.

And it doesn't matter how many people say otherwise or how many times. That is reality, and is represented as such in Ali's own biography.

He’s going to die on this hill, I’m tapping out. The better fighter, the one who deserved to win and should have won did so. It will always be thus in the history books. And Henry Cooper … who again I thought well of … would have been a footnote in history outside the United Kingdom if not for this moment in the spotlight, he’s remembered more and more fondly for knocking down the guy who IMO went on to become the greatest heavyweight fighter ever born of a woman than he would be for knocking out a contender who still at that time wasn’t fully developed.

He also gave Ali a needed lesson about not screwing around (in the ring that is, although he was no amateur in the other meaning).

Ali was badly hurt. But he didn’t receive all the extra time that has been become legend with this fight. He did receive illegal smelling salts. If that was enough to DQ him on the spot I don’t know, but I do believe had he been caught the fight would probably have been a NC at best for Ali.

    Six seconds.
Ali gets up at the count of three and starts for his own corner and it is clearly shown on this video. At no point does he start to go the wrong way.
You are making a show of yourself over this

I think Cooped would’ve cleaned his clock and handed out a historical first loss to Clay. If Dundee administered smelling salts and tore the glove then the man closest to him, knew a minute rest wasn’t going to be enough. Let alone had Cooper been allowed to jump on him straight away after a count of four. All fun ifs and maybe's.

Of course hindsight is 20/20, but from everything we know about Ali, it's 99.99999% positive that he would have survived the round if it had happened earlier.

And I'm so sick of hearing this lie about Ali getting so much time because of the torn glove it was only 6 seconds for crying out loud LOL
