I believe he was beaten mentally more than physically and it's more severe than a physical beating. He needs to take some time off to get his confidence back, then get back in the ring with one or two no hopers.

He should come back against Clottey and Margo vs. P-will. The the winners fight.

took quite a bit of punishment but it defently hurt him more mentally then physically cause he had never tasted defeat in the pro game. Its the same with hatton he came back but only put on a medicore performance hope cotto dosen't fight like that in his comeback fight if he chooses to return that is

Cotto already said he expects to fight before the end of the year. I am worry about two things here. #1. His mentality as a fighter. Margo learned from his losses(5) But not everybody does that. #2. Cotto's training. I saw Cotto winning the first half of the fight. I saw him run out of gas. I think his "CHIN" took everything very well. But there was nothing left in his body. Training hard as usual got him to a level. Now, he has to train harder.

IT was more of an emotional and devastating defeat than a brutal or vicious one. Cotto's heart and fighting spirit took a HUGE hit...It's normal for a 1st loss given the level that Cotto was on. I think it will be more of an uphill climb to regain that "CONFIDENCE" Cotto was known for than anything physical that he'll have to overcome. He'll be back and I hope this loss helps him to that next level.....I don't think we've seen the best of Marg or cotto.

Margo looked so much bigger. Cotto looked like he was going to lose after the 2nd rd when his nose was damaged

I would have him come back in around February of 2009, then in June of 2009 in MSG for the PR parade in New York.

He was physically exhausted by the time he was KOed because of all the running he had to up until the KDs. It was a combination of exhaustion and Marg's punches. He wasn't severely beaten by any stretch.

Cotto has nothing to be ashamed of. He was boxing Marg's ears off in the first 5 rounds. Had he landed the shots he landed against any other WW, he would've had them hurt. He just happened to fight a guy with one of the greatest chins ever.

I think he can fight again in january-february or so. I don't think the beating was as bad as its made out to be. IMO, Margo took a worse beating being that he took more flush punches to the head.

Look at the final footage on HBO's PPV telecast and tell me in my face that he didn't take a decent beating. Cotto at some point was stretching his arms on the ropes coming back to his corner and Evangelista was telling him that there were just two rounds left. Did people see the vomit of blood that came out of his mouth at the end, that was Capt. Quinn's after being bitten by the White Shark in Spielberg's "Jaws". And Max clearly pointed out he was in severe mental breakdown... Cotto to comeback at the end of the year against Mosley in the awaited rematch or fighting/rematching Zab in case Judah captures the IBF version of the Championship.

Margarito actually took more punches in that fight. Physically, I think that Cotto could recover. Mentally, I think that he's finished versus Margarito but could still rebound against other opponents.

Nobody else in the welterweight division would have stood up to the punches Cotto landed in those 11 rounds..................and nobody else will :deal

I'm absolutely certain that Top Rank will match him with an easy mark. They won't take any chances.
