Hes a guy that bases is all legacy on being undefeated,to people on the outside it wouldnt be that much of a deal but to him it would hurt him badly.

If Mosely KO`s FM, then yes, he should rank higher.

It would put to bed FMs crazy claims of being better than Robinson or Ali but you cant change yesterday because of what went down today so he still has his legacy as a 5 weight champ & amongst the very elite 130 lbers ever.

I agree with Jorodz, the damage to Floyd's legacy would be tremendous. Right now a lot of people have a lot of doubts about Floyd's record, legacy and who he has or hasn't fought, but that is being plastered over by 1) the fact that Floyd is undefeated, and hasn't even had to struggle very hard except for maybe one or two fights, and 2) Floyd's all time great skills.

If Mosley beats Floyd, number 1 utterly falls apart. All you will hear about is Floyd was exposed, that he wasn't as good as people thought he was, overrated, great skills but bad record, what about this guy he ducked and that guy he didn't fight when he could have, etc.

Floyd will still have the ATG skills, but a lot of guys have had great skills but shitty records or just never stepped up to the plate and proved things when it mattered. Floyd won't get thrown down that far, but he will take a steep dive from the high place he currently holds. Everyone will talk about how Floyd could have been greater, but didn't push himself to prove it in the ring or take the right challenges.

Of course, FLoyd may be able to win some of that back even if he loses, but the image he has built for himself and that his biggest fans and nuthuggers support about how Floyd can't be touched, can't be beaten, outclasses everyone he fights, will have been permanently been reduced to dust.

Exactly....but as you know not all of them do. Respect is earned by what you do and Floyd is doing what he needs to do.

Floyd claims he is the best of his generation, actually claims he's the GOAT. He then loses to an almost 40yr old Mosley, a man who also came up from lightweight and fought the likes of prime Delahoya, Forrest, Winky and such. If Floyd loses to this version of Mosley, what will be said of his overall standing on a generational standing. It would be no question that a "prime" mosley would beat him too. More questions would be raised about that entire crop of fighters Tito/Hoya/Shane/Winky/Forrest/Vargas all being better then him because they all fought eachother prime and were pretty much on par, yet floyd struggles with an old oscar and loses to an old shane, he can't even dominate the leftovers from that era. It would be pretty bad dude, hard to sell his greatness.

I'm not nocking Shane at all man, but the higher you are the farther you fall. And Floyd is held up VERY high on a head to head level right now. Any loss will damage his legacy, especially one against an old mosley and the first legitmate WW he has fought (except judah/baldo).

I'm a huge floyd fan too, but I really see this as a make or break fight for him.

I think this is a legacy fight for both guys. Granted it would hurt Floyd more if he lost, only because some view him as the 1st or 2nd best fighter of the last 20 years. He can solidify his legacy with a win. Mosley can do the same, and place himself in the discussion of the top 5 of his era. I really is a great match-up if it comes off. In my opinion, outside of Pacquiao-Mayweather, this is the most important fight of the last 10 years. It is one of the legacy fights that doesn't come around too often. Like I said I am hoping it happens.

if floyd lose to mosley (if this fight actually happens). what will happen next..

floyd won't be asking for blood when he begs pac to fight him for a chance to redeem his reputation.

he probably wont even get 50/50 pay if he loses to mosley. Mosley will be the man to beat.
