The ring in the rematch was 22 feet. The ring at MSG was 18 feet. Standard rings vary from 16 feet to 20 feet. How much of a role did the massive ring play last night in Joshua’s win and his ability to run from Ruiz? I think Ruiz would of cut off the ring a lot better if it wasn’t so oversized.
With so much real-estate it makes cutting off the ring harder. But I don't think the result would have been different had the ring been 18-20 against the version of Ruiz last night
Ruiz could have cut off the ring if he wasnt 40lb overweight Its all "coulda would shoula" Ruiz has his Buster Douglas moment and blew it.
Every little edge counts at the top level, you better believe it. But Ruiz and team were so cocky and overconfident that they just thought it wouldn't matter what Hearn-J did. They should have kicked up a fuss about this to at least apply social pressure to have the same ring size, call them runners/cowards whatever, that's what your team is supposed to do. They were already in Saudi Arabia with Wlad's old octopus ref FFS, at least push back an inch. Team Fury did this in Germany when Klitschko tried to get a dodgy advantage with the spongy ring to slow Fury down. That's because they weren't overconfident idiots!
Obviously this was planned I noticed it through the fight. Made more of an issue due to Ruiz coming in as such a pudding. Ruiz can only blame himself
Joshua didn’t need a bigger ring, Ruiz was so plodding that Joshua could have danced round him in an elevator and never got cornered
Hearn lied in YouTube videos stating in interviews around the weigh-in that the ring was the same size as the one in MSG NY!
Hearn will force Wilder to go to London or Mecca for the fight, either way Hearn will Dictate everything, the referee, size of ring, judges, etc... and of course Wilder will tell him to cram it! So Joshua will likely fight Pulev and the Blob while burning up all of 2020... unless they force another Pulev type mandatory on him...
