A damning indictment of the division, indeed. Canelo's already beaten better at the weight, this is as close to a formality/coronation as it gets. Fingers crossed he'll move up straight afterwards or be ignored as irrelevant for as long as he stays in such an empty division - wanting to go undisputed is fine, but hanging around afterwards when there's so little of merit to fight wouldn't be.
Who has Canelo beaten better than Plant at 168 pounds and please don’t mention Callum Smith and Billy Jane Saunders.
Allow me to rephrase: "Who has Canelo beaten better than Plant at 168 pounds except the guy I don't want you to say". BJS has significantly more talent than Plant - as much as I'd like to see Canelo beaten, I'm not going to kid myself that Caleb has any better chance than BJS did. I'll be very surprised if this is any more difficult for Canelo than the BJS fight was - if it is, I'll give Plant his dues regardless of whether he wins or not (and I'll be absolutely stunned if he does).
Get ready to be shocked because as night follows day Plant is much better than Billy Jane Saunders a quitter. The same BJS that Isufi made do the chicken dance. Plant based diet is not good for Canelo who enjoys English Roast Beef from Liverpool and Essex and extra juicy steaks from Mexico.
Plant would most probably lose to both Saunders and Smith, not to mention Benavidez, so no achievement at all.
On what basis is Plant better than BJS? BJS has a significantly better best win (when you're facing P4P level opponents, it matters what stiff tests you've faced and BJS walks all over plant here - Lemieux>>>>>Uzcategui), he's harder to hit and more awkward stylistically for Canelo. Plant is bigger, a bit quicker, but less talented, still not got enough power to keep Canelo honest (just as BJS didn't) and has nowhere near the resume to think he's a realistic challenger to Canelo IMHO. Even if Plant was slightly better than BJS (which again I see no evidence for whatsoever), it's not enough when you're talking about the levels required to win this - I don't really need to prepare for a shock, this is a gimme fight for Alvarez. The only sense in which it's fair to call BJS a quitter is because of his comments about quitters - if he hadn't spouted that bull**** then it wouldn't be fair to call a serious injury a quit. Regardless of how unpleasant a human being BJS is/was, he's still a better boxer than Plant in my view.
When a poster like Olu cries about others being disrespectful to boxers, then goes around and does it himself, they deserve to be called out for they BS. And give it a rest Dren, there was nothing hostile about what I posted. You just try to escalate posts to mean something else.
Everytime i read one of your posts you come off as very angry and billigerent. Its not that serious lance.
I don’t care about BJS as a person. There have been many scumbags in boxing but he is overrated. He beat and outclassed David Lemieux, so what anybody who can fight can beat Lemieux. Plant and Canelo would stop Lemieux.
You insert the 'angry and belligerent' tone yourself Dren. You create that narrative based on a few words from me. Grow up kid... I've seen you posting trash talk to other before, so save your pearl clutching, near fainting hysterics please, women. Thanks!
Canelo would stop Lemieux, yep. Plant? Probably wins, but his KO% is sub 60 already, he's hardly a big hitter...
