It would be huge here in Ireland and the UK, and obviously throughout Europe also. Wlad sold out Madison Square Garden (right?) for his last fight and did good American TV numbers. Would a fight with Fury go down well with casuals or be more for the hardcore fans?
At this point, no one really knows fo Fury in the States outside of us hardcore fans, so it wouldn't do to well. However Tyson is a huge personality, and if marketed well, and if he does his usual thing pre fight, it can be pretty big over here.
Even loose casuals that I talk boxing with in person that I know don't know who Tyson Fury is. That fight would be big for captivating the UK audience, not the US.
I'd really like to see it over here! I think Tyson would bring more popularity than Wilder oddly enough. Americans like drama and want to see more drama in the HW division. Briggs and Zelenoff can't do it all by themselves.
on a scale of 1-10 it would not reach 1 , US fans could not give a toss about either of them and probably never will .
Nowhere near as big as Wlad/Wild fight but it could do okay numbers I guess. Especially with the winner facing Wilder.
I attended the Wlad fight at MSG and may I say the atmosphere was electric. I also attended the Fury bout vs Cunningham at MSG's smaller venue the Theatre. The turn out was a let down. Fury is not well known stateside. However he has a big personality of he sells it it could drum up some interest. Jennings did better than expected numbers and msg was a virtual sell out. If that was an 8 out of ten on interest scale I think a Firy bout could do a 5 or 6. Better than Pulev but not as good as Jennings stateside.
Only in the states. The fight will take place in England or Germany and could easily sell 60 thousand tickets. This fight will be huge over there. In America not so much, but it will air on HBO and if recent trends continue will pull in a decent rating for HBO
I'm from the US and I'm a big Tyson Fury fan. But he really doesn't seem to be well known or well regarded here. Initially, there would probably be next to zero interest. But Fury is pretty good at banter. If he really works at it, I think he could mouth off enough to get US fans interested in a Wilder-Fury fight. Not very interested, unfortunately, but a bit.
