So I was randomly watching Bernard Hopkins TKO Hakkar on youtube last night and after the fight ended Hopkins was walking around the ring and rattling off a bunch of fighters names, one name struck me as a bit odd in retrospect(all things considered), he called out Sugar Shane Mosley. WOW. That would have been terrible. This fight wouldn't be worthy of a poll, how quickly would Hopkins get rid of Mosley if this disasterpiece of a fight ever took place?
I think he'd KO him mid rounds at age 38 or let him survive and finish him off in the late rounds. 154 was way too big for Mosley, I can't imagine 160...or a 156lb catchweight with Hopkins of all people would do to him.
Mosley bullied william Joppy very badly in sparring around the time Hopkins was cleaning up shop. joppy nabbed a title after his bad beating by trinidad aswell. so i think nard was angling for a oscar fight earlier than he did. these are 2 of the best p4p boxers in the world at the time so anybody fighting them would get some media exposure that hopkins sometimes lacked even when he was the top dog. but hey, you would of been laughed in your face if you told me that 3 years ago that manny would beat up Antonio margarito at 154lbs.
I'm not saying that the fight wouldn't have made sense back then. I'm thinking retrospectively. Sort of how the fight with Trinidad made sense back then but when they got in the ring....total mismatch. Looking back on it, I could see a similar type of fight as Trinidad vs Hopkins.
