Mario KHO in the 7th round. The African was undefeated at the time and the minimum weight champion rodriguez is now 15-6L-11KO joyi 22-1L-15KO
Quite a big upset. Joyi was the best in a weak division and shouldn't have been troubled any time soon.
Its a big upset. Joy was supposed to be the top dog in the division and he got beat by a journeyman, it may end up being the upset of the year.
It's a very very weak division... keep in mind that Keb Baas was a champ (Beat Romero) and was the definition of journeymen by everyone. Rodriguez beat him by KO, and has been on a role of late. He started at age 17 as a pro and learned on the job, and in a weak division pretender champs like Joyi can win a belt.. hell Keb Baas did.. I mean **** Ioka won a belt in his 7th fight... and the guy he beat Yaegashi is considered a top guy at 15-3 at age 29. Weak division means that upsets aren't really that big of a thing.
Thats not fair. Ioka is a very strong fighter. He won the belt in his 7th fight, because he is just good.
"Dragoncito" defo overachieved in that fight, But I didn't expect Joyi to take the full 10. (Taking a knee... Any word on a possible injury or break, Still didn't see that definitive blow that would have caused this)
