If Dempsey were around today he wouldn't be fighting at heavy, he'd probably be about 195-200lbs when in shape, unless he did a weight training regime. He's not a legit heavyweight although he did have power to KO one.

It would all depend upon what he chose to do.

Chris Byrd was never a natural heavyweight, but he chose to fight in the heavyweight division where the money was.

Is the cruiserweight division going to interest Dempsey enough for him to campaign there?

I would say not unless he came along in one of the more competitive periods, when the cruiserweight division was seing big money fights.

Even in that scenario, he would ultimately be tempted up to heavyweight, as every realy good cruiser ultimately has.

I'm more shocked at how skinny Mercer is. Its like looking at a young Brando and all you remember is The Godfather.

I don't like to throw out accusations but are we sure he wasn't on steroids. Or maybe my memory of Mercer has more muscle than the real one. But he grew done unreal traps.

I think Haye fight proves that decent size plus speed, reach and power can be more effective that pure size .. the way Haye was able to stop Chisora when when Klitschko and Helenius could not was a statement that certain guys could possibly be more effective against bigger men ..

It certainly can be the recipe to upset the apple cart for super heavies. That said, the smaller fighter must make sure the match is played out by his rules. It's a matter of who enforces the style of fight that unfolds. Chisora didn't really have the right advantages (or skill) to make Haye pay for his aggression. Wlad did, though.

Measurements can be wrong or fiction & get lost in the mists of time. But I see a few that must be mistaken make the rest of Dempsey's measurements suspect.

He has never been listed un 6' 1".

It is very implausible that he had an average-& small for a HW especially today- 9" ankle, yet a monster 9" wrist, especially lean. There is a huge correlation between the relative sizes of these mesurements, since they denote bone structure. Show me any other human-absent a physical problem-with average wrists & massive ankles, or what is claimed for Dempsey here, the opposite.

Some of the chart is obviously out of order, as per Marciano re: height. I think he fogot to list when data was not available. But Dempsey is supposed to be listed first: he had small fists for a HW, but pretty huge 15 1/2" foreams? He clearly did not.

I dont know, Ive got this photo of Dempsey and his Forearms are freakish. They have these veins busting out all over and look a little out of whack from his wrists/hands. I could see them being pretty big.
