How big was it over there.

i know in my area of the USA it was pretty big.

Because in my area i lived boxing was never talked about then mayweather hatton even teachers were talking about it.

It was also big with the students.

It broke the previous PPV which held by Tyson-Lewis by 500,000 buys.

I believe Mayweather-Hatton sold 1.4 Million in UK.

    Huge!

Mayweather is actually respected in the UK (as a boxer)

Hatton is a god in the UK.

It was a big fight for us.

Obviously the majority were backing hatton, but me, I wanted PBF to win (I have issues with a boxer not living the life of a boxer all year round)

It wasn't a shock that he lost (to the true fans) but you are right in saying the way he lost was a total shock.

I think he did ok ish considering who he was fighting.

But yeah it was a big fight. I watched it with loads of casual fans.

    Well said mate

Such a shame Joe "firm but corrupt" Cortez spoiled the small chance Hatton had

Hatton was eating elbows and forearms all day, typical of floyd to cheat

It was pretty big over here and was definitely a big night for me and my mates. It worked out well with the time the actual fight was on as we were able to go out and have a full night out on the **** before coming back to a mates flat and getting behind Ricky... shame he got Ko'd but it definitely caught the publics imagination.

Think having the 24/7 series on Sky sports in the build up also gave it a bit more exposure and generated a bit more interest

Yer the fight was huge over here aswell, we all just went to a party, got hammered and watched the fight in the early hours. My heart said Hatton but my mind always knew Mayweather was going to win. I think Hatton underestimated his inside game. Plus Cortez seem to let Mayweather get away with the forearms and the elbows but didnt give Hatton an inch.

1.4m buys is huge considering we only have a population of 60m

USA has 350M and floyd usually does the same...

It was a very big fight in the UK, I remember before the fight I didn't really follow boxing but picked Floyd because of a highlight video I seen. I was 13 or 14 at the time.

Huge.Even non-boxing fans were excited over it, women even:admin

Alot of people who didnt know floyd thought Hatton would win but people in the know knew it was a big ask.I knew he'd get beat. He gave a pretty good account of himself though

Is it true that a bunch of Mancunians took out second mortgages to bet on Hatton?

BTW I can't believe you people are complaining about Cortez. Hatton's style after he stepped up to the world level was essentially illegal. He fought like a 140 John Ruiz.
