    The hype was so huge that even non-boxing fans wanted to pay to see the fight.

    They used to set up big PPV screens in arenas, and sell the tickets like a live concert, as I recall.

    As has been said, boxing was in the mainstream media, all the time. Especially a character like Ali, who was extremely cocky, extremely skilled, and unbeaten, as well as controversial (Vietman, race, etc).


    MEGA fight in every sense of the word.
