This. Bigger isn't always better. A talented small man can use a big man's size against him. There is always a trade off with size. The bigger fighters get the more likely they are to be clumsy.

Not going to get bigger than they are. Any longer and they'd lose more than any gains from height. No matter how big you are 6'6" 240/50 lbs is more than enough size.

How could they get bigger and still be able to fight ?

    Mark my words.

We are growing more than vice versa.

7 footers used to be uncoordinated a few decades ago.

Now a few giants are being born with coordination and thus skills.

Its not getting smaller, its getting bigger.

Take Latin for instance, He is huge!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

mind you when you're accounting for averages, you also have to factor in that the heavyweight division includes buffet kings who barely scrape 6ft but weigh more than all 3 champions combined.

This post was from 2016 on BoxRec and credit goes to jezzamundo there:

6 foot 3.6 inches is the average so far for this decade (up to that post) and hasn't altered dramatically for the last 25 years.

    Impossible to say.

If I was living in Dempsey's time I'd probably consider that heavyweights wouldn't be able to fight effectively over about six one, one hundred and ninety pounds. In Louis's time I'd have raised that to about six two, two hundred pounds. Etc etc. Currently the best fighter is around six six, two hundred and fifty, while the previous one was around six nine, so if history is anything to look at we could very well be seeing legit athletic seven footers in the future.

I don't hold that there's an upper limit, at least not one we've reached yet, but there will come a point when there'll be such a gulf in weight between the average heavyweight and the next weight down that something will have to be done to accommodate the no man's landers.

in the future, boxing will have changed as a sport dramatically from what it is now, and those new rules and forms will evolve the boxers into a shape or form you cannot recognise just yet.

to try and force current experience of 2 decades onto the the whole of the future, is just plain stupid.

efficiency of size is limited to the efficiency of the heart that supplies it with oxygen.
and efficient hearts dont vary much in size. in fact, after a point, bigger they get, the worse the perform, which is why they havent evolved.
