How big would De La Hoya/Tito II be?

Let's imagine both guys pick up a few wins. De La Hoya takes out Forbes, Powell, Ouma or some other fights in that mould. Tito beats Mora and Ornelas, or two other fighters like them. How big does this fight become? both guys have a winning record and some interest if it's impressive. All this to build up to a 2009 showdown.

Would it be bigger than the first fight? Bigger than De La hoya/Mayweather?

If this happens, assuming Oscar wins, which he would, how would the win affect a rematch with Mayweather? Would that fight be more successful than the first bout?

Hopefully Oscar/Tito II happens. I'd love to see the at it once again.

Their first fight did 1.4 million buys and that's when they were both prime, undefeated fighters at the height of their popularity. So more than likely, a second bout would do around 1 million at best.

The Mayweather/DLH fight made $19 million at the live gate, that's a record. It also set records for total revenue earned. I doubt Trinidad/DLH II could top that.

True, but dlh wasnt the promoter back then. Look at floyd-odlh, no way it should have done those numbers. However the way they marketed the fight and money spent on promotions (24/7), jay leno, pbf at superbowl etc made it the biggest fight ever.

That fight featured the world's most popular fighter vs. the world's best fighter. Floyd was undefeated and p4p no.1. 24/7 was succesful mainly because of Floyd's antics and Oscar's popularity. That fight was a much easier sell than this fight.

Oscar was just as popular back then and in his prime. Tito was no.2 or #1 p4p. Before ODLH Floyd was doing 300k buys, then suddenly it jumps to well over 2mil with ODLH? Tyson was as big if not bigger than ODLH and he had antics, Lewis was the HW champion of the world from UK. This fight was huge but even this didnt get the same amount of promotion.

It wasnt antics that sold the fight, it was putting their face out there. When your a guest on superbowl, ODLH popping down to Jay Leno and theres a 4series relaity TV show to get to know the fighters, its gonna do big numbers. Mainly down to 24/7 because anyone who followed the reality series would want to see how it ended, live.

DLH-TITO 2 after both these guys beat a couple guys would surpass the first one by far.

    GBP
    HBO 24/7
    Mex vs PR rivalry
    DLH-TITO rivalry
Even though it's been almost a decade people still talk, argue, fight over this fight! Surely they'd love to see the end result for closure.
    DLH is a HUGE name
Tito is a really known name

If DLH could generate almost a million fighting Mayorga, Mosley II, then surely he can double that because not only are DLH's fans buying this fight, but Trinidad fans would too, and you can bet your house the casual fan would fall into the HYPE surrounding this fight.

Believe me people would love to see this fight.

All DLH needs to do is throw punches and he will land at will. Tito can't fight when punches are landing on his chin.

For reference watch the DLH fight, Hopkins fight, Winky fight and RJJ fight.
