Anyone else lose count? I sure did. I wonder how much the ref was paid extra to look the other way. Not even a warning. A bit disappointed in Spence and hes still exactly what Ive said he is. Hes a really good fighter but a limited boxer who will get beaten by a boxer who can move and has a good punch. Crawford dismantles him. For the record I had Spence winning the fight.
If anything it makes the Crawford fight more interesting. He put porter down which is pretty hard to do to be honest. Broner caught him off balance that wasn’t like tonight. Also Thurman vs Porter 2 and Crawford vs Spence and Manny vs either Garcia. Crawford Spence winner gets Manny. Then whoever wins Porter vs Spence fights the winner of of the manny/Crawford/Spence
Don't forget that Porter's a dwarf and that Errol ''Salido'' Spence has to reach down extra low to sink those low blows into his plums This content is protected This content is protected
I wish boxing officials/commentators made it more clear that any punch landing on the belt line is NOT low. In this situation Spence strayed low a few times but this was also because Porter was pulling his head down in the clinches and Spence is determined to work the body regardless. The referee did warn Porter about this as well. Has anyone ever tried on a groin protector? I remember vividly Lou Duva (or someone on his team) swinging a baseball bat at somebody's groin while they were wearing one and they didn't even flinch. Low blows are way overstated and most times when a fighter is claiming injury he's trying to draw a point deduction or disqualification, and it's usually the losing fighter doing this. Most times when a fighter who is winning is hit low, he just wants to keep going and beat the crap out of the other guy. Too much unnecessary drama about low blows. I hate when a great body puncher like Spence is criticized for good old school body punching.
Was waiting for a thread like this. Spence was calling Porter dirty. Oh, the irony look in the mirror Spencer you is a dirty low blower.
Spence upped the ratio of nut shots significantly from what Cotto used to do back in the day. Seemed like half of Spence's body shots strayed low.
bro gtfoh he was landing on Porters thighs at times. Dont give me that belt line crap. Sure some were but many were easily below and it wasnt all because Porter was pulling him down.
Honestly, Porter rushing in wasn't always to be offensive as he was suffocating his own punches. He does this because he doesn't like the body punching and he was constantly wrestling, pushing Spence's head down, grappling etc. A good ref (he was) recognizes this and allowed a bit of leniency for Spence because he knew he was going to work Porter's body regardless of Porter's smothering tactics. Porter is also a short welter who wears his trunks high and the ref pointed that out as well during intros. Spence is old school and his trunks are below his belly button as I think they should always be worn. I think both guys are very classy individuals but Spence wants to work the body all the time and Porter is an experienced, crafty boxer who does a lot of subtle moves and shifts to stifle Spence's body punching. It depends on what you like but I like clean punching and aggression, not just aggressive punch and then hold/wrestle until the ref breaks. I want to see the punch count numbers as I feel it will probably show Spence had a significant advantage in punches landed.
