I've watched boxing for over 40 years and still keep watching it today. Even though this kind of sport has changed a lot since the last 2 decades I still keep watching and following it. For me, there are no any other kinds of sport more exciting than boxing.

There's just a lack of excitement in boxing nowadays. Everyone feels like they're going through the motions. Fighters lack passion or drive or engaging personalities. Promotors also seem to have no idea how to promote, or inject genuine excitement into a bout.

And the fanbase just seems flat, or overly whiny, or nonexistent.

I often feel like I'm following the sport out of duty.

    Good for you.

Intelligence... Boxing skills.... excitement.... He still shouldn't be mentioned alongside Loma.

Wilder is an over hyped American can-crusher with very little skill and no noteworthy performances.

I agree that no other sports are as exciting as boxing; for me the sense of contributing financially to a sport, cable giants, promoters, fighters just started to outweigh the good. Plus, I’m sure the fact that my beginning to date the gal who is now my wife coincided with my decrease in watching boxing.

These are all good points. The fact that boxing has been relegated to a secondary sport, at least in America, plays a part. Globalization also plays a part. It’s difficult, for me, to become too invested in fighters who don’t speak English. For example, Loma, GGG and Chocolito. Great fighters, no doubt but I can’t connect with them like I could with jermain Taylor or Kelly Pavlik or Tyson or Holyfield etc. The internet also plays a huge part: boxing sites, in order to stay relevant, have to post multiple “articles” a day and have forums. Ongoing quotes from Wilder about peds and being the best range from legitimate to absurd. Really good posts from knowledgeable fans are commingled with posts from brain damaged trolls. The May Pac hysteria remained at a fevered pitch for years.
With the different belt holders and so much potential money on the line, fighters actually have an incentive not to fight! Joshua / Wilder should really be seen as nothing more than two, somewhat limited contenders vying for the heavyweight championship but its “marinating” like we’re hoping to see Frazier Ali. How many millions of dollars will be on the table to see two heavyweight “champions”, one who won his belt from Bermane Stiverne and the other from Charles Martin? The only thing worse than the hype of those two guys negotiating thru social media would be if either them are upset by Ortiz or Parker.

every sport is rigged to some extent. boxing makes little bones about it though, and never has.

It’s losing its magic because boxing is a big game of bs. Take GGG for example. The guy was rated p4p #1 after his worse outing where he looked like a lazier version of Margarito.

Everybody ducks everyone else and the fans are a big contributing factor of this because they allow it from one guy and not the other.

Not only is boxing killing itself but the fans are killing the sport as well. Guys use to have to fight eachother. Now you got guys who fight bums their entire career and still get ranked as FOTY and p4p number 1 with no merit.

Just agenda because they try to hype people that fits their marketing formulaic narrative. The sport is being watered down daily because of this nonsense.

It was at its peak during the Attitude Era in the 90's. All this PC crap has ruined it.
