http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i_edKVcfMgg&feature=player_embedded How does it feel to be knocked down for the first time? He's to trying to shield with his shoulder roll but it doesn't work with a left puncher. Its an open field for attack by Maidana. After that his feet are woobly, surprised and nothing left.
Broners defense was simply hiding his head behind his left shoulder. Maidana threw looping left hands on BRoners blinside then followed up with the right over the top, he couldn't miss. Broner has poor footwork and a shockingly bad ring IQ, others will be queueing up to fight him after seeing how easily Maidana took him apart.
Part of the defense when using the shoulder roll is lateral movement. Broner just stands there moving his upper body which isn't going to defend well against a big combination puncher like Maidana who throws in 3s and 4s. He didn't learn from his mistakes with Malaniggi
