Mayweather is the complete package, the greatest fighter since Sugar Ray Leonard. Jones had such glaring weaknesses yet so many of todays gullable, delusional 4ucktards believe that Jones was greater than Money May. How can this be?

I dont know, ROy didnt have any longevity because he was severely lacking fundamentals.

I have Floyd miles ahead of RJJ. Resume wise, and skill wise.

I think it has a lot to do with their divisions.. At 147.. it is hard to say Mayweather is the Top guy.. you had Hearns, SRL, SRR.. etc etc etc...

But at who do you say is greater then Jones? You have to go considerably further back to start getting people..

Anywho, I think thats why it is.. just lack of comparability for their weight

No way is Mayweather anywhere near the top of the welterweight division, might be the top at 130, perhaps even 140, but that's about it. Guys like Hearns, SRR and SRL are way more accomplished at w.w. than Floyd is.

Money is the GOAT at 130 now at 147 I'm not sure where he's at.

I know when Roy Jones Jr was mopping up the MW/SMW/LHW (early) division, I honestly didn't notice where he was lacking back then. I didn't realize the weakness in the armor until the DQ loss to Griffin, and, come to think of it, I'm not sure I realized his shortcomings until probably the Glen Johnson fight.

I wasn't a Roy Jones Jr fan (no surprise that I'm also not a fan of Floyd Jr), but I just thought he had it all....I think that he was probably just a freak specimen that was so much more athletic and fast than his competition, that he could dominate in a way that masked many of his deficiencies.

Jones was a top 10 naturally athletically gifted American ATHLETE of all time.
He is also so great and probably the only great boxer who had such speed he wouldn't setup with jabs but left hooks. NO other boxer did that

It's easy to look down and discredit someone once they lose. If jones would of retired after the Ruiz fight he would be held in a lot higher standard. For many years he was untouchable, then he got old. Mayweather gets touched but hasn't lost, but if he doesn't retire before he gets old he won't get any credit for his acomplishments either. I would definitely consider a young Roy Jones the best fighter I've watched, and Floyd the most skilled. If they were both the same weight it would have been awesome to see he would come out ahead. It would be a hard choice to make

If they were the same weight.. Roy taps that chin. Sergio Martinez is very similar to Roy, agreed to come down to 154 (even 150 I think) and we've seen Floyd keep his name out of his mouth, and Sergio isn't nearly the athletic freak that Jones was.
Jones to fast and hits to hard, and Mayweather couldn't hit him hard enough to keep his honest. James Toney was a good tactician and look how Jones beat him up.. Take away James Toney's ATG chin (which Mayweather don't have IMO) and you got a knockout within 6.

Toney is a big Floyd with a better chin and MAYBE a tad less pound for pound one punch sting. The difference is of course fitness but that match up between toney and prime jones could very well hint at what Floyd might look like in a head to head match up. Toney is under-rated - his skills are pretty complete
