Jones missed way too many fights to be ranked with SRR, SRL, or even Mayweather. Do you think Jones would have fought Canelo or even DLH? Hell no he wouldn't even fight Benn, Eubank, or DM :rofl:patsch

Typical thread by head and rico ..Jones has been in the top 10 p4p for a decade ,is also more accomplished than Floyd and has two wins or two rivals in their prime ,went with out a loss for more than a decade with out retiring ! GTFO with that Floyd **** ! A guy who fights faded legends ,never fought a rival in their prime ,and also retired for a year ! Floyd ain't even close to Jones as far as greatness ! :good

    This.

Only an idiot would dispute his athletic prowess. Similarly only his most pathetic fanboys would deny his lack of basic fundamentals when that very same athletic prowess declined is the cause of his status in the fight game today.

Of course, no one is ever pound for pound #1. There was a period of two (97-99) years where Oscar was there, and then they switched it to Tito. Then they wisened up and moved him back to #1. At worse he's been #3 for a decade. Yeah, I'd say that's longevity.

Better wins against better competition, more spectacular and dominant. Won a portion of the heavyweight title with a big weight disadvantage, then dropped all the way down to gut out the light heavy title when he wasn't at his best.
Jones is greater and it's not even close.

Jones Jnr by a country mile, it isnt even close.

Jones started at 154 and had the talent to beat a 225 pound Heavyweight Belt holder, there's no way Mayweather has the talent to do a 70 pound jump and beat even a LH let alone a Cruiserweight.

    Discussion over.

Glad you called that piece of garbage Ruiz, a belt holder as opposed to actually calling him a CHAMPION.

Thus far no one has proved Mayweather takes any substances to help him bulk up have they?

    Jones on the other hand,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

I wonder how long it will be before Loud Mouth, Mind Fvcked or some other weird Jones fanboy brings a certain Welshman's name into the equation?

Pretty much, and this was during a time when the Ring actually had some credibility.

Jones was a lot like Tyson in a sense, he astonished the public and casual fans. While Mayweather mostly astonishes boxing fans only. Tyson and Jones were truly amazing at times and they did things that shocked and awed, and gave people the sense that they were super-natural. They had an in-ring charisma that few others have ever had. Ali had it as well.

Mayweather is a master of his craft, and also does amazing things, just not as flashy and astonishing as Jones and Tyson did.

It's the "On a given night, at their best" type thing. I think the majority of people believe Jones/Tyson could never be beat. They were extraordinary.

That all being said, Jones has a very good resume and a legit record. He dominated the other 2 great fighters of his era, in their physical primes, Hopkins and Toney. And made them look levels below him while doing so. Where as Floyd appeared to struggle with Castillo and Oscar during his prime.

Mayweather is a level above Jones for me.

Mayweather has got the better and deeper resume; that's obviously not blemished by any losses. Jones has got 2 very good wins over Hopkins & Toney but there's an awful lot of mediocre fighters on his record + a string of defeats now.

Jones was a physical freak who started to slip once his athletic gifts began to fade. Mayweather is 36 and still out boxing anyone he gets in the ring with and hasn't even looked like losing in a long time.
