It was a good win over a p4p opponent in what was a tuneup comeback for Mayweather. Marquez was weighing in the 140's on fight night when he was fighting at 130 so really all he had to do was not worry about cutting weight. Mayweather has never been one to rebydrate a lot , especially since he started campaigning at WW. I've seen him a couple of times weigh in between 146-148 on fight night.

All of this, "he weighed 160" in the ring is complete, speculation, conjecture, BULLS**T, or whatever you want to call it by people who want to discredit him, and make excuses.

In the same world where LWW and WW is decided by less than 10 pounds.

Face it, weight matters. If it did not, weight class would not exist and catch weight would not be so controversial.

Hell, it was important enough that JMM and Floyd agreed upon on a specific weight, to put it in contract and have a penalty in the contract.

Saying it does not matter is like saying the sky is not blue. PBF and JMM disagree with you.

The question is really did it make a difference? Yes. Would have it change the outcome? No.

If the fight was at 140 and both fighters respecting that, I would not be surprised that JMM would have at least touched Floyd once or twice. It would have still probably been an UD. Just a different kind of UD.

10 pounds does not make you slower. Anyone who thinks it does needs to have a real think about their life choices and how they were able to become so stupid.

Pac going from 135 to 147, 12 pounds, retains his power and speed.
For some, the Mayweather family, this is enough believe he is on PEDs.

So you may want to argue with the Mayweather about the whole 10 pounds does not affect speed thing.

The people who voted for the last two options are just pure haters. I'm not the one to discredit fighters. I accidentally voted for decent but I thought it was a good win for Floyd. It was a mismatch from day 1 but he deserved all the credit in the world for shutting out the number 2 pound for pound guy. I had no problem with him choosing Marquez as a tune up fight.

  7. Damn. You're not very bright, are u? Try running 100 yards... then try running a hundred yards wearing a jacket that weighs 10 pounds. You really think you can do it as fast? Marquez jumped almost two full divisions in a short period of time. How the hell was the added weight not going to affect his speed? His arms we're bulkier and his chest and his back were also bulkier. All that **** affects your speed and movement.

if pac pulled off this stunt, he would have been crucified here on esb. it's just that his fans appear to be great supporters that he can get away with this. 10 lbs is irelevant for floyd, but 1 lb is huge for others.

It's a joke mismatched fight. It should get negative ratings.

I like how the *****s can justify a 2 weight class gain for marquez as insignifigant but always ***** about pac fighting cotto only 2 lbs below the welter limit

Mayweather had been inactive for 2 years. Was supposed to come down to a catchweight that I thought he would struggle to make. Marquez looked pretty good against Casa and Diaz in my eyes despite the critics and presented a style that Maywaether really had never faced.

I predicted Marquez to win about 5 rounds out of 12.

Then Mayweather busted the weight limit and I saw how big he was at the weigh in, I figured 8-4, maybe 9-3 Mayweather. In the end I had him up 10-2 plus the KD.

So its a decent win. He surpassed my expectations but not by much.

Then again I don't consider Maywaether as good as most do, and I think I rate Marquez a little higher than most do.

Marquez is just a name that can be mentioned whenever we talk about Floyd's resume in the future. I doubt anyone is going to expand and go into detail over this victory 10-20 years down the road.

Mayweather could have knocked him out at anytime if he had the balls to do it. He chose not to because everyone was going to criticize him for taking on such a small man. He was sparing with Marquez that night. Awful match.

no. He tried to knock him out but couldn't. People are underestimating Marquez and over-estimating Floyd.

    from Floyd himself.
