How can anyone say Roy's ATG status hasn't dropped substantially?

Your ATG status is based on how good you were, not how bad you became later.

There are people out there who are stupid enough to be influenced by Jones' current performances when analysing his status in the history books.

**** them. You can't help people who want to be ignorant.

 LOL @ u mate, again as I said on another of ur posts, he hasnt been knocked out 3 times by one punch, KO'd is when u get hit and cant get up, TKO stands for Technical Knockout mate, get ur facts straight, when u are at the refs mercy there is nothing you can do, he has been KO'd once and TKO'd twice, Tyson was KO'd twice in his career by Lewis and Holyfield and TKO'd once, so u are just another RJJ hater, he probably whooped one of ur favourite boxers back in the day and now u are tryin to get some satisfaction now he has lost a few.

Just shut up man at let the living legend be, u cant deny that he is the most exciting fighter ever to step into the ring and has had some of the most convincing wins ever, noone has ever decimated ppl in the way RJJ has (except for maybe Tyson) and noone will ever do it again.

    :good

Otherwise Leonard and Duran are bums, and Henry Armstrong and Ray Robinson aren't in the top 100.

decimated?? RJJ may have done this to a few of the handpicked opponents who were little more than punchbags, but he hardly decimated elite fighters. yes he did beat Hopkins and Toney but wouldnt say decimated them

I think "Yall must have forgot" is more credible now... It makes more since sense now as in I think people really have forgot... You have idiots who believe this tarnishes his legacy... The guy no longer has the reflexes that made him great and he doesnt have the greatest chin... What do people think are going to happen at 40? He isn't magic...

Roy Jones is addicted to the adrenaline rush fighters get when they walk out of the lockerroom and into the ring. Most singers say that being on stage and entertaining is like a drug, Sugar Ray Leonard also stated that a boxers ring walk was "intoxicating". Roy needs his fix.

The acknowledged P4P #1 boxer of all time is SRR. He has 19 loses and yet he is still regarded as the best boxer ever. Why? Because most of his loses are after he is way past his prime and that he is not supposed to be fighting anymore. The same case can be said about RJJ. He is not supposed to be fighting by now. He is already way past his prime. Any loses he gets now doesn't affect the legacy that he had already built.

I agree. People have to realize anybody can lose and be knocked out. All it takes is one punch. Some boxing fans aren't what you would call intelligent.

Most great fighters hang on far too long after they're shot and incur some embarrassing defeats. Those losses just have to be overlooked when evaluating their careers. In one of SRR's last fights he lost to the immortal Memo Ayon in bout held in an auditorium next to the bullring in Tijuana. The Tarver and Johnson losses may have taken some of the shine off of RJJ's career, but getting TKO'd when he was forty years old by a banger like Green won't change anything.

People have compared Jones' later losses to Tysons' and Hearns'. Very strong point in this debate.

But similarily, Roy's later losses have as much effect on his all time great status as, say, Pac's EARLY losses have on his.

They are not the same fighter at those respective stages in their careers. Period.

Ezzard Charles lost like 30 times in the final years of his career.

What happens when you are shot doesn't affect an ATG ranking.
