I actually had it even entering the 12th, which I didn't bother scoring. The open scoring experiment cheated fans out of what should have been an action-packed dramatic 12th.
I hate open scoring................. I had Alvarez winning the fight. I was surprised as I though Trout would win. Alvarez was better than I thought he was. I agree, the open scoring destroyed what could have been a really good fight.
i think i had canelo winning by 2 rounds.. honestly it was a close fight either way, this fight showed me that alvarez can beat a true champion, he is the best of his division and he has a very underated defense
if there was no open scoring canelo would have pushed for the knockout .. he literally cruised the last 2 or 3 rounds... people say he gassed but even a gassed fighter gains energy back after a round off he was content cruising to victory.. i agree open scoring ruins fights
Alvarez didnt make him pay everytime because Alvarez's workrate was terrible People were saying about Alvarez's head movement but if your dodging only and not throwing back even if they are missing or skimming you can still lose rounds
^ Exactly. I scored it a very close fight. Had Canelo up by a point. I'm a big big Canelo fan but he just barely edged Trout, and maybe should have lost if not for the knockdown. I also think Trout is a top-tier boxer and very underrated.
Canelo giving up the last round made it even closer, this fight was supposed to answer questions regarding Alvarez's stamina but open scoring prevented it. Instead he showed he could be a slick defensive fighter but that wasn't the primary concern.
Trout had that sissy running all night. Counting bodyshots....jabs....plus the fact Trout set the pace..and .owned the middle of the ring. Trout won.
Now we see why Canelito didn't want to fight Trout in Vegas. He jumped off the Mayweather undercard to fight him in Texas where it's easier to pull off a heist.
