How can anyone think Marquez won the 1st fight with Pac by a wide margin?

You can't. I thought JMM just nabbed the first one and took the second by 2 or 3 points, but there's no way you can justify him winning widely, that's just stupid. To be honest, I would just ignore people who make comments like that, as they either don't mean it or are just trying to make jibes at Pacquiao.

However you look at it, they were two good, exciting, competitive fights between two well-matched opponents. I thought Marquez had the edge, but he didn't walk all over Pacquiao by any means. If anything, it says something about Pacquiao that he was able to take on an ATG who was all wrong for him twice and make it tough. Nobody's beating either of them easy.

Getting emotional and throwing around insults again? We know your style. A few people have posted in this thread. I wonder why you chose to respond to me considering you have no respect for me? Anyway, eventually I'll watch this fight again and I'll give you a full scorecard.

Marquez was aesthetically wonderful in both of those fights.

    His fighting, that is.

Agree, there's no way somebody have JMM winning by 4 or more points, I'm a huge fan and I have him winning by 1 point the three kd in the first have a huge weight in the final scoring.

You were the one who came onto this thread with no scorecard to produce, armed with only the usual dull vague criticisms of me. I choose to respond to you because I think you are a dog who needs put down. Get your scorecard out or begone from a thread intended to discuss the scoring of a fight. :good

Unfortunately no scorecards from yourself, but two damn good posts nonetheless. Marquez's combination punching was superb across both fights. Pacquiao is a much improved fighter now, I think the evidence is clear if you look at his recent performances compared to those in these fights, where he was over-reliant on his physical gifts. Marquez would find Pacquiao's improved footwork, movement and punch variation a whole new ball game if they fought again I think. I wouldn't mind seeing a third instalment at 140lbs if Marquez dismantles Diaz impressively.

I understand the original poster questioning a 4-5 point victory by Marquez, like the one judge had it, but I also think he's missing the point of some pro-Marquez (myself) fans. Now, I'm also a big fan of Manny, but Marquez is my favorite fighter. With that said, I believe I'm able to score a fight without bias, and a loss by my favorite fighter is not the end of the world.

I think what a lot of people of the opinion that Marquez won this fight feel that he won by a large margin...except for the first round. I have him winning 8 rounds, with only 1 of the rounds being a questionable one (rd. 8, which could have gone to Manny) IMO. Unfortunately, all of the rounds count on the scorecard LOL.

OP's scorecard is a good scorecard, though, and I have absolutely no problem with it.

    With that said, my scorecard:

    R1: Pac 10-6
    R2: Pac 10-9
    R3: JMM 10-9
    R4: JMM 10-9
    R5: JMM 10-9
    R6: JMM 10-9
    R7: JMM 10-9
    R8: JMM 10-9
    R9: JMM 10-9
    R10: Pac 10-9
    R11: JMM 10-9
    R12: Pac 10-9
    TOTAL - 113-112 for Marquez

Yeah I scored this fight recently and 113-112 is the only way you could score this as a win for Marquez and you would have to give him every single close round.
