How can calzaghe not be above

why would he at the time the SMW division was not a real division at the time and has only gain legitimacy over the last decade at best. If hagler would have moved up he would have went to LHW, not because he was ducking Joe but rather to find a real challenge. MMH would destroy Joe . . . man why do I even have to type this ****?!

I think he would beat Joe also, but had the supermiddleweights been around I doubt Marvin would have moved up unestablished or not. Spinks always challenged Marvin to move up and challenge him for his lightheavy title, and Marvin never wanted to. Spinks reasoned that Marvin was always calling out Duran,Hearns and Leonard so why not see if Marvin moved up. He didn't. Not detracting from Marvin's greatness, but I think the other guys moving up should have helped thier legacy more than Marvin not moving up, especially if they won titles. And I do think Marvin is great.

 

I do not think there is a need for anyone to move up from middleweight to SMW or LHW back in the day to become great. Heavy, middle and welter were the historic glamour divisions in boxing (in that order). While LHW was considered a real division (unlike SMW) it was always the ugly sister.

I just think those other 3 fab four proved more than Marvin as far as versatility. Marvin might not have had the height for 175, but he had the reach. 75 inches. Hagler and Spinks would have been an elite matchup probably won by Spinks, but to see Hagler try and take on Spinks would have proven something to me. He is a great middleweight, but I would have liked to see if he could put his skills in other divisions. He probably could have. A Hagler/Qawi fight would have been great with Hagler probably outboxing Dwight. Marvin would look like Sugar Ray Leonard against Qawi.

that's not a fact. that's an incredibly dumb opinion. joe and his people would have ran from hagler faster than usain bolt, unless hagler would have been in his 40s. in that case, we have a fight.
