It seems to me that it won't be easy to find a marketable opponent for September. There is no Mexican that makes sense, the Maidana card fell below expectations and that also implies that maybe people don't give a sh*t about Khan either. Now that the Pac fight is eliminated... you would think that will reflect in both fighters PPV numbers. Which fight makes sense? (Obviously from a financial standpoint) Aside from the winner of Cotto/ Martinez I don't see anything that would top 700k. I personally don't care about PPV #s but with Sho and Floyd it is a huge deal.
Void's PPV numbers are coming down, Showtime is not happy..................read that Showtime wants to push for a Pac/Void fight, but Void will faint..............
He'll fight Maidana again and it will probably do a little better the second time around from a PPV standpoint, though I imagine the fight will be less competitive. Then Khan next May.
The money is on someone facing the winner of Sergio vs Cotto, if Sergio dismantles Cotto by KO in devastating fashion, he becomes a viable opponent to bring in some PPV vs either money or Pac. Hell, I can even see Canelo in the mix, if he gets past Lara and challenges Sergio. A Cotto win vs Sergio is possible but highly unlikely, however, should Cotto win, money can be made with Cotto vs Canelo, or a rematch with Pac or Money at 160. The casuals however run boxing and since they don't know ****, maybe even after a win Sergio with no fan base among casuals would probably not be big enough to risk another lukewarm Mayweather PPV event fo SHOWTIME....... A Cotto win would be different that is why in order to generate interest Martinez has to blast Cotto and look awesome, that is my guess in all of this, but who really knows what will go down.......
Maidana II, due to the quality of the first match, or Danny Garcia, based on P4P and resume worth, make the most sense and are pretty much the only opponents that do for Mayweather next up with the exception of Porter, which the whole luster of that would be to produce a WBC/WBA/IBF unified champ and it seems not that marketable.
When the hell did that happen? If that's the case, 90% of the ww and jrww division is shot, past prime, a bum, or overrated.. This includes Pac and Floyd.. Who is the other 10%? The people that hasn't been found out to be one of those yet...
SHOT!? lol atsch jesus why are you even here! your not a boxing fan, you dont understand the sport and your clearly not trying to learn...
Ok but obviously the financial viability of that fight made it easy given that Canelo is Mexican and has a large fan base. NEITHER of those are in place right now which was the whole point of this thread. Maidana would be the obvious choice but given that he never appeared to hurt Floyd, intelligent fans would assume a rematch would be less competitive. I would think the #s would be similar due to some assuming that Floyd would Guerrero him this time.
Cotto (II) if he wins against Martinez Martinez - but HBO Problems Maidana 2 Winner of Lara vs canelo Khan?
Manny pacquiao most notable fights: Barrera, Miguel cotto Morrales Bradley { loss } Dela hoya Joshua clottey { coming of a loss }. Brandon rios { coming off a loss }.
Well from what I've read, it looks like they're looking at Maidana II, Khan, Garcia, Porter and Thurman. If it's Maidana, it'd be easy as hell to make that fight within 2 weeks
