Is there any hope for him at all? What should he do?

you know brother, I've been watching boxing a long time, and I honestly can't think of anything this guy can do to win. he just doesnt have the tools required to do the job.

He cant, his only hope is that his natural advantage, his size is enough of an advantage. In terms of skill or adjustments he can make, none.

using his size and putting on the pressure ... he's a very precise puncher ... he's strong, and has a great chin. He's in a good position because if he can bait Cotto into a brawl then he can take advantage of Cotto leaving himself open for a big right hand. Cotto has been known for not having defense for the right hand ...

This fight is going to be very tough for Cotto, and he is one of my favorite fighters.

People here underrate Gomez, and don't realize the guy is a big WW. For christ sakes, he spent time fighting at MW, and did very well there.

He has an iron chin, excellent work rate, and has a great left hook to the body. Add to that, he is going to have a considerable size advantage over Miguel, and this could spell trouble.

I give Cotto tons of credit here, this is a high risk/low reward fight, and a loss could kiss any hope of a fight with PBF goodbye.

I see this becoming a 12 round war, with both guys looking beat to **** when all is said and done.

One more prediction, ignorants on ESB will be on here telling us how bad Cotto sucks because he didn't knock Gomez out, without looking at the style matchup and the fact Gomez is tough as hell.

fight with pressure..i think he'll make the fight competitive, gomez is the bigger man and he should make use of that. Its not determined by being whose the hardest puncher, but whose more tougher perhaps

Cotto hasn't faced a fighter that had physical advantages over him ... I know it doesn't mean much, but if Gomez can combine that with his boxing then he can pull off the victory.

Try to mix it up and throw shots from weird angles. Maybe he could land a temple shot like the one Corley did.

He needs to go for broke cause he's not going to outbox him, take the 5% chance to outslug him.

the only advantage he has is size. Cotto is better at everything else. I like Gomez, but he'll lose.

Cotto doesn't use much angles ... he's a stand right in front of you fighter.

He can box but he uses his jab more and side to side movement ... he doesn't pivot and switch angles.

He isn't gonna win by outboxing Cotto.

He needs to make this a brawl, a fight in a phone booth etc.

I have no clue if you have boxing knowledge, or not. All I read from you is how average Cotto is, and how great PBF is, so it's hard to take anything you say seriously.

I do have a question though, do you have the best job in the world? Your post count is amazing, for someone who has a job.

I'm not sure Gomez can do much, unless he's reinvented himself overnight. He doesn't have the footwork or speed to give himself angles to take advantage of Cotto's defensive lapses. I don't believe he can outbox Cotto, who has an underrated jab which he will control this fight

Realistically, he's got to make it a fight and hope to god he lands something lucky. Stylistically, he is there to make Cotto look good
