Basically, in my other thread, lots of people were telling my to put more balance on my rear foot in my stance, and were telling me not to step and slide when moving and stepping, but rather to push and glide, and I basically wanted to know if I have it down now, and if not, what I can do to improve? Floor was full of sand, so I slipped a few times, but oh well.

It seems WAAAAAY harder and slower to do this way, and honestly it's uncomfortable, but I want to do thigns right.

I didnt, You have to lift to move, not to high but it has to be done. In the old days with Leather soles it was different, Rubber sticks.

^Yeah, that's why I was getting confused. I didn't want to not lift up my foot at all and eat dirt, haha.

I'll make a new vid today, I think I (kind of) got it better today.

It's "step, slide" not "slide, slide." You move forward and step with the lead food, slid the back foot up. Move backwards you step with the rear, slide with the front. The step isn't a "step" really as it is moving your foot up slightly. You're also extremely flat footed. You're not going to be able to react to an opponent who is good on his feet and can move around you with that sort of stance. You look more like you're doing Karate.

Something that helped me develop my stance and how to move better is jumping rope, and a lot of it. Practice alternating feet and jumping just enough to let the rope pass under your feet (about an inch). Once you get it it's not even an effort to jump rope anymore and that's about as high as you lift your foot to move.

It would be best to find a boxing gym or make a friend who actually does boxing at least to correct and show you. Boxing isn't exactly something natural and everything about it is a skill to be taught. Sure you can try to do it on your own (probably with a whole lot of flaws, time, and more then likely improper form development) but you'll make tremendous progress and actually learn the proper way of doing things from somebody who has experience and instruct. There really is no substitute for it.

I'll put it in simple terms for you.. To move forward, lift your lead foot, and push with your back foo.t To move backward, lift your back foot and push with your lead foot, etc, etc. It is going to feel unnatural because it is an unnatural movement. This is why you must train your body to feel like it is "second-nature".

Put a rope on the floor, and withotu even throwing punches practice walking to the end of the rope in a straight line, being sure to keep the rope in the center of your feet, you know if either of your feet cross the rope you have lost your balance. Move forward to the end of the rope, then backward back to the beginning. Rinse and repeat until you can do it smoothly.

Everyone here has said it's not step and slide, but rather it's push and glide.

I'll make another vid today to see if I have it down decently.

@bam-bam As I've said to you countless times, there are no gyms near me.

    Do you have a broom?

I think you need to clean that place first before tackling your stance/footwork. :D

Find me these countless posts, I've had about two interactions with you on this forum.

You are a beginner, beginners need guidance and teaching. They make a lot of mistakes. You can't teach yourself in a sports centre, using what we say on the Internet for instruction.

Either admit you will never box competitively, continue with your current technique and just box for fitness, In which case it doesn't matter too much about technique. Just box to keep fit and because you enjoy it. or go to a boxing gym and be taught correctly.

That's not boxing. That's punching a heavy bag for fitness, or playing pretend boxer and looking stupid to somebody who does train. I refuse to allow somebody wailing on a heavy bag in the gym for fitness to claim they do the same thing I and other people who are training day in and day out, through sweat blood and tears just to learn how to land a punch correctly to claim they're doing the same thing. :bart

To MURDR, what do you do when you walk normal? You raise one foot, and then push off with the other foot. In order to move there must be a pushing motion. You don't extend your foot and drag yourself forward. "Step, Slide" is the act of raising your lead food, pushing with your rear foot to cover distance and then reseting your position by sliding your rear foot back into place. You're making something very simple very complicated and it's because you're trying to learn from the internet and your own interpretation. You seem like you're very challenged in the foot work apartment.

Do you live in the country or something so that's why you don't have access to a gym? If you live near or in a city I guarantee there is some place that offers boxing lessons. Try Google out, type in "boxing instruction near 'wherever you live'" and you may be pleasantly surprised.
