I have never boxed a day in my life. I do however lift a lot of weights. I want to be able throw puchhes very fast. Iwould like to know what eqipments is out there that i can use to icnreas my speed inthrowing puches in a accumalitive manner.

I wanne be able to throw like 4-5 punhes at a time fast.

I saw one time on the contender that were some kind of resistan strings out there that a guy uses to throw punches and increases one's speed. Do you guys think you can help me out. If you know of the equipment, please supply me to a link or atleast a pic. Thanks in advance.

You should probably start with learning how to throw the punches properly if the end goal is to be able to throw them fast.

resistance training to try and get the tone to throw fast heavy punches, that would be the training you'll usually see working with a medicine ball. but if you don't want to pay fo a medicine ball, then make up a sand bag. do up a 5 , 10, 13, and 16 lb bag. I'd do up 2 of the 5 and 2 of the tens.

In my second book that i'm currently still writing up , i'll be going over Medicine ball routines and one of the jobs i'm voluterring for this year is voluteering to be a conditioning coach for a major league baseball team. And i'll be introducing this stile of toning.

but other bags that will help build speed:

the number one bag to get is the heavy bag. You can work about any technique on that and a good routine will build enduracne and you can work on your technique. this will also be in my second book.

Speed bags and double end bags are also a good investment.

but I think from most important to least important i'd go with:

    1) heavy bag
    2) speed bag
    3) double end bag
    4) focus ball (this is easy to make)

    learn proper technique
weights wont make you fast imo and experience but everyones different
    relax when throwing the punches
and speed is normally natural with the athlete imo

Weight lifting can make you faster if you do it with dynamic effort, I think. If you make the motions more explosive I think it'll train your fast twitch muscle fibers and build explosive power; like in plyometrics.

first of all you simply need to start out just boxing
focus on technique and start off slow then gradually build up the speed and tempo
shadow box and use different bags too
you must learn to be loose and relaxed when throwing because this is what enables you to move quickly, tensing up slows you down and wastes energy
also focus heavily on speed (after you master the technique), FOCUS on accelerating your fist to maximal velocity instantaneously, not gradually
with power punches breath out forcefully

you should gain experience with this 1st before any other speed training enhancements

i also suggest that you do not do typical bodybuilding style weight training

Listen to what everybody is saying: lifting weights will make you faster. Is there any evidence? Not one iota.
Try learning how to punch and learning how to box. It won't matter if you lift more weights and become faster than anybody in the history of weightlifting, if you have bad timing or make the wrong moves you won't hit anything.

As others have said, it's about technique (moving the right body parts at the right time) rather than a particular excercise. It's all timing.

why do you want to learn how to have fast punches if you dont boxe or do any martial art? and dont you think its pointless to throw loads of punches if none of them have any power or accuracy? because believe me when i say this its not because you lift loads of weights that you have strong punches and even is you did you propbably have no idea how to unlock it....but if what you want is to be able to show off to your pals and learn how to street fight...well...wrong forum.....
sorry for being harsh but if you want to learn how to throw punchs go to a boxing gym....or else you might just be another meat head that walks around all pumped and and totaly usless....and you will hurt yourself punching the bags without good tech...

    ^^^exactly

And if you want to be really fast you have to focus almost primarily on speed (In my experience) and keep focused on it. Speed seems to fade pretty quick if you don't use it at all.

Doing isometric punches (www.rosstraining.com/articles.html) help, especially with the instantanious aspect. Focusing on the starting point helps.

Punching with light weights, once again focusing on instantly accelerating.

Doing random things quickly throughout the day to keep your nervous system thinking "speed!". I work in produce and I put out things like lettuce and potatoe's all day, so I use that as additional speed training by focusing on instant accelerating. Since I started doing more things really quick my handspeed has increased a good deal, speedy movements sort of become the norm eventually.

sports science used by the russians found improving maximal strength to be the most effective at increasing speed,my hand and foot speed improved tremendously as my core lifts went up, it will also increase strength obviously, search cold war boxing and youll find a great article to support what i say

I've read the opposite, sort of. Read that EXCESSIVE development of max strength can hinder speed strength. However if you have little strength then you would need more (strength) to be able to move your limbs faster especially when your legs are concerned since they have to move your whole body.

It is pretty hard to increase your max strength excessively though, if you strength train twice or even three times a week I wouldnt say thats excessive but any more and your putting most of your eggs in one basket.

Up to a point if you just get stronger you will get faster, period.

where the legs are concerned it does speed you up
think about it for a minute - you bounce around changing direction suddenly, step forward and backwards quickly which involves pushing with the leg
the whole weight of the body has to be moved, this is not scientifc proof but it is simple logic and mathematics
same with the torso to a lesser extent as it's only the upper body that is moves
it doesn't increase pure arm speed because your arms have no resistance to move against apart from gloves and thin air
