How can Juan Diaz get inside to make his workrate count against Juan Manuel Marquez?

Well that's your own interpretation of P4P . . . so don't expect others to adopt that.

For me POUND 4 POUND is a rating . . . wherein if you put all fighters in one division who'll be on top.

Now . . . how can you rate a guy higher in a P4P rating than a fighter who beat him in an actual fight? This is an actual fight . . . not comparison by records, style, skills etc etc.

Well if thats how you would rate a p4p, whether it was their idea that it was close or not.... more people in this forum and every boxing forum that I know of for that matter, thought JMM deserved the decision against Pacquiao.

I certainly, and I think most would agree, I dont rate fighters by official decisions......I rate every fighter by how I feel they did.....

I don't care about other's P4P list . . . I have my own . . . it so happens that my list doesn't differ much on the official p4p ratings.

 

To tell you the truth, I dont much think about a p4p fighters as putting him on a list......

.....what I do know is when I see a fighter, I can rank him on comparison to his peers, and know whether they belong in the top 5 or so.....

My list for example right now would go something like

JMM, Calzaghe, Pacquiao......
.....if Mayweather would come out of retirement, he'd be hands down #1 on the list even though I dont give a rats ass about him.

 

I think JMM is showing signs of decline.

 

he defenetly has a couple more great fights in him, to more opponents and the third fight rematch with pacman and hopefully he wins so he can retire...

he cant. Thats isnt how he fights. His style allows for his opponents to open up so he can throw his counters, thats totally different to somebody like Hopkins who tries to take your offense away, instead of inviting you to engage, which is what Marquez does

 

Believe me, if Juan Diaz knows that he'll pay for throwing a shot by recieving a thudding shot thats likely to land, his workrate will drop....

I think Psychopath may have it right.....he believes that Diaz will be throwing no matter what.....but he also knows that JMM has better punching power than does Diaz, which is why he thinks JMM may win by KO!

If Juan Diaz brings the intensity and output you describe, quote me on this and slap it back at my face if I'm wrong, Diaz will get KTFO in the process.

.....more than likey however, Diaz will taste the crisp hard counters and decrease his workrate as the fight goes.

 

TBH i dont think Diaz will be bothered by JMM's power. He took powerful shots from bigger hitters like Freitas and Julio Diaz and kept on coming. Barring a cut, I dont see him getting discouraged (like what we saw against Nate, but I'm sure Diaz has learned his lesson). And it's not like he leaves himself open everytime, in fact, the guy covers himself up very nicely for a pressure fighter.

 

its simple if jmm manages to manouver around the ring quick enough and still throw clean crisp counters on the back foot, he will win the fight no doubt

but i am not being silly becuase that is no easy thing to achieve when the guy you are facing is juan diaz who cuts the ring off amazingly well
its a realy realy good fight, tough to call

but i think jmm foot speed will be quick enough to keep him moving around the ring well enough to land the more meaningful punches in the fight
no doubt juan will have his moments with his high workrate and punch output
but the more meaningful punches will be coming from jmm

 

Juan Diaz head will be bouncing all over the place. JMM wide UD. If Juan does get inside he will be tasting those uppercuts. I dont know how JMM will react to bodypunches though so thats Juan Diaz only chance. Juan can't KO JMM via headshot and his biggest asset is his workrate, unfortunately for him though, JMM stamina is right up there to keep up with it.
