How can Juan Diaz get inside to make his workrate count against Juan Manuel Marquez?

Diaz will have to apply more pressure than JMM has ever seen to get inside...JMM is a great counter puncher and has some good speed! I favor JMM by TKO in this fight..If Diaz wants this itta be his heart that gets him the W!!! Good luck on that against the second best fighter in the world...JMM TKO 10!

 

I think for Diaz to be effective is to be the Baby Bull.
In his last fight against Katsidis he showed us that he could fight a disciplined fight and use his boxing and speed to win a comfortable decision against a lesser boxer.

Juan Diaz will have to bull rush Marquez and force his way in the hard way. He can't sit back to try to establish the jab and implemet a diciplined fight against someone a lever or two above him in that category. If Diaz was to do this then Marquez would have a better chance to set his rhythm, establish his own jab, and find every possible hole in Diaz's defence from a distance. Marquez at this stage would have Diaz beat at the end of a sharp jab and rock solid straight right at mid range and long range. By allowing Marquez to control the fight Diaz will not find the space to step inside were his volume of punches and speed would be the most effective.

Diaz, in my opinion cannot afford to step back and box the master, he has to explode inside and push Marquez to the ropes. Diaz has to take those punches on his way in and try to out brawl Marquez and not let him escape. But this part will be just as tough because Marquez's counters will hurt the Baby Bull on his way in and will be in danger of getting caught with combinations from every possible angle.

Pretty much what I am saying is that if Diaz steps back and boxes he will lose, if he turns into the Baby Bull then he could still lose, but thats where his best chance is. All of his big wins have come from out willing and breaking down his opponents. Because he can't outbox the outboxer, he has to try to outbrawl, which is what he does best.

My prediction is that Marquez and Diaz will have a close half. With Diaz stepping back to recalibrate himself every time Marquez blasts him on the inside with well placed punches, but having success in spots as the rounds go. Diaz will then become frustrated in the second half because of his lack of success and Marquez racking up the points, in his desperation he will commit more mistakes and Marquez will cruise to a comfortable decision.

The second half will be crucial for Marquez. Depending on how much Marquez digs to the softer body of Diaz, the Baby Bull may find himself completely winded in the later rounds while still trying to bull rush a fresher Marquez. Diaz will get KOed if he doesn't watch his steps.

Diaz's volume of punches and effectiveness will dim down as the fight goes.
