As Brighton Bomber said, Parker has the attributes - he is not just some plodding weakling as the worst offenders claim, but he does have fundamental issues that may cost him. It really is a question of how polished can he perform? Outside movement is key, even if he is not in range himself. He needs to get Joshua to throw, miss and generally get frustrated, ideally leading to a crescendo whereby AJ pushes for a stoppage but doesn't get it - that is the time to pour it on. Joseph's 'beat you up' power is more than adequate because Joshua's biggest weakness is not being able to get out of the way of himself when spent. Power isn't the best weapon in that scenario (see Shavers fail to finish Holmes), but rather keeping it on him. Problem is, with Parker's defensive lapses - walking back in straight lines, keeping his hands low - he has to go down a very disciplined route to create that opportunity. He can't rely on his chin (even if it is granite), because facial damage may very well pull the plug. Kevin and the Kiwi have to calmly unfold a sound gameplan, round by round, and generally show us a standard we haven't seen before.
Considering i dont rate either fighter, i would not have predicted either to win. But given parker couldnt put a significant dent in takam or fury.....Nor could he outbox them to a degree you would expect a top level heavyweight to do, i dont see how parker does either to joshua.
Several posters have outlined some good gameplans, but the trouble is that Parker would need to fight in a totally atypical way to put them into practice, and it's simply not realistic to expect him to overhaul his entire style in a couple of months. Parker's best bet is to fight as he always does, but with an intensity and concentration level above anything he's had to demonstrate before. Parker's an extremely instinct based fighter, and he needs to be willing and able to spot the slightest opportunities and go straight for them, Jack Dempsey style. He has the handspeed advantage, and might have the advantage in chin and stamina as well. He needs to use those attributes to force Joshua into exchanges whenever Joshua takes a breather, and keep Joshua chasing him when he's not in range. He needs to fight with a mixture of beast-like aggression and cunning, make things super uncomfortable for Joshua and force him out of his rhythm. I don't know if he can do that, but that's the way I see him winning, given the material he's shown us thus far.
If Parker wants to beat AJ he needs to get AJ to move on the back foot. He needs to get into the pocket (like Tua loved to) and let combinations go. He needs to be in tip top shape, and then he needs to pounce on AJ when he gasses after 5-6 rounds. It is very much within a top HWs capability to stop AJ, and stop him in that period when he fades in the middle of the fight (rounds 6, 7 and 8). AJ hates it on the back foot, he hates punching at a small and mobile target. Thats where Parker needs to be. His trainer also trained Tua, so I am sure those are the tactics they will use.
I could see a scenario where Parker fights his normal style and is able to see it through to the 5th and 6th rounds. Then AJ suffers a dip in energy and has stamina problems, then Parker should pounce, jump into the pocket, and let bombs go on AJs chin. Right on his chin. Then if he gets up. Pounce again. Second time AJ is dropped he doesnt make the count of 10 and Parker wins via KO in round 6, or 7. He would need to seize the moment in the fight when AJ is gassing and low energy and trying to find a second wind.
No guarantee Joshua gasses in the mid rounds he's only ever done that vs Wlad when he took a monster shot after trying to stop Wlad himself. Joshua's busiest rounds vs Takam were those middle rounds, he didn't gas against Breazeale either during these rounds. If Parker is going to make Joshua gas he has to up his normal work rate to force Joshua out of his comfort zone because statistically they throw a similar number of punches, about 45 per round. Which of course means he could gas himself by forcing the pace.
Lol says the person who is clueless and says AJ can be beaten by the average HW but then again he says Parker is not an average HW. If he is not atleast average HW then what is he? Without a doubt you must be one of the most stupid people to grace this forum LMAO! No wonder most posters thinks you are dumb.
Get Tyson Fury to fight for him. Parker just has to use effective aggression...Make AJ miss and make him gas. AJ likes to hold his feet and keep his opponent at range...problem for Joe is he will probably play right into AJ's hands...we'll see how effective Joe is at getting inside...I think he'll fall short at range and will be at threat to AJ at that range. AJ will KO him whilst he is pulling out at some point... Just can't see what Joe can do....
Parker might bring Tyson to the ring walk, maybe he could hide Tyson under the ring instead and maybe have him grab Joshua's ankle and trip him up to get an opening on him?
Cojanu was in the middle of that lot too. A big guy who has been down before and wss never in any trouble from Parker.
The only way to win for Parker IMO is a situation where AJ throws the kitchen sink at him, fails to KO him and then gasses out badly. Think Wlad vs. Brewster I. Parker needs to show chin and tremendous heart to get through the initial storm, then hope AJ's stamina goes down the tubes. Then hunt him down and KO him. I am not sure if Parker's own punching power and stamina is up to the task.
